Veteran's Day 2010. It is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world, falling on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.) The war to end all wars it was billed. Unfortunately, it wasn't. That's why today we remember those in uniform or who have worn the uniform to defend this country or this country's interest. So today go hug a vet, give him/her your car and just say, "thanks for your service."

As a reflection, it's too bad we need to fight wars to settle differences, but fight we must. Congress needs to be practical and become more constitutional when it comes to wars and vets. Congress, watch the defense spending and repeal DADT and fund all the veteran affair issues. It's right and it's just. To quote an outsourced corporation, "Just do it."

and so it goes...

Oh please. Why must we fight? Who stuffs that idea into peoples' heads? Evil people do. The idea was sown and is repeated that like automatic machine gun spray. As long as that is said there will always be war. The wars only enrich the arms manufacturers. I don't see any of them out there in the trenches. They spend every war on a yacht or in a mansion. Let them and their kids go fight if we "must." They start the wars anyway, always have. Bad, bad, bad, Spanky McFarland.

Restore law and order on our own soil. Do justice in the courts. Clean up the corrupted faction of our own intelligence agency, get the Princes of Liechtenstein out of our treasury and extricate all their inbred associates. Why agree to be their minion? Give them a field and their defensewerks somewhere in one of their own provinces and let them blow themselves up to bloody hell.

Spot on, leighmf, and thanks.

I ve encouraged community members to read the magnificient 1888 speech by Colonel Robert G. Ingersoll. Can you imagine Obama, or any of todays politicians, making a similar speech? Here is the URL for his speech if you would like to read it.
