John Oliver tells us how easy it is to be exempt from tax laws. That is part of the reason why so many "televangelists" get rich... that, and because there are so many stupid people out there willing to give them the money that they cannot afford to send them. Suckers!!!!

The naive, gullible people who fall for that crap may be "suckers," Palindromedary, but the televangelists who defraud them deserve all the ridicule and shaming we can heap on them. Horrible human beings, those "believers."

Thanks for posting the video. Funny, but sad.

And, pray tell (no pun intended), why doesn't my comment send the thread to the top of the list? Is that how it goes in the blog section these days?

That's weird, isn't it? Oh well, they are probably just making changes. Nothing wrong with change, I guess, as long as we get used to it.

I sometimes get a letter from some company, perhaps a magazine or charity, that includes, say, a coin glued to the letter. They want me to respond with a subscription or donation. I just keep the coin and trash the letters. That has got to be the dumbest ploy...but, if it makes people feel like they have been given something...that they should give back... then they will be suckered out of whatever they have been asked for. Another thing I've noticed....that memberships to some organizations like AARP send letters every year trying to get me to extend my membership. They usually give a choice of 1 year membership or 3 years membership extensions. I wasn't paying attention, I guess, when I received those yearly subscription letters and found that I'm good for another 7 years. I had sent in a payment, for the 3 years subscription several years in a row. If I kept that up, I'd be good until I was 200 years old before long. Really ticks me off that they keep sending those solicitations every year even though I don't really need to renew the membership for 7 years.
