I'm normally a very optimistic guy, but I can't be at this point. The Citizens United case changed the election landscape. The only hope we had of changing it back was in this election. We needed Democrats to maintain control of Congress, and then work implement law (and a Constitutional Ammendment) that take away corporate personhood. With the House falling under Republican control, the latter is not going to happen. This opens up the next election to the corporations.
I keep hearing news analysts talk about how "if the Republicans don't get things done over the next 2 years, then they'll be out and the Democrats will be back in." Well guess what. Than ain't gonna happen. From this point forward you can expect all elections to be pretty much decided long before we go to the polls. Corporate money will have people convinced of whatever the corporations want them to believe well in advance. As far as our dempcracy is concerned, it's over.
If anyone knows of a real life solution for this problem, I'd like to hear it. Please give me a glimmer of hope.
