My brother in law is a business owner and a progressive. 100% of his employees are undocumented Mexicans. 100% of the employees of his competitors are undocumented Mexicans. As a progressive, he would rather pay a living wage, but he can't compete unless his competition also has to pay a living wage. Since the Justice Department, which reports to Trump, does not prosecute employers who employ undocumented workers, he has no choice but to match his competitors. I am pretty sure that all of his competitors would say the same thing. We don't need more laws, we just need to realize that laws cannot work unless enforced.

Solving Undocumented Workers is Simple, no new laws needed.

Well done...spoken like a true progressive. NOTHING is ever my fault,..its always somebody else's fault. So your brother-in-law can pay a "living wage", but chooses not to? Now that's not very progressive of him. Tell him to turn in his card at the next meeting.

What do you make of Assembly bill 450 in California that prohibits employers from cooperating with immigration enforcement?

Some one has to pick the farmer's crop and few people can tolerate the hot sun and humidity. I'm very surprised that no one has ever thought to SHADE the workers in the field by making a flexible, or 3 piece "body umbrella".. But they let the hot sun keep on directly hitting them for some reason beyond my undersanding. Why do you think the early Chinese and Mexicans wore large brimmed hats. They weren't dumb!!!

I hope to God that we come up with farming automation in time to keep up with feeding the (blind and ignorant) ever growing population. We were taught in the 1960's that population explosions and war follow each other.

The hiring of illegal immigrants is the problem but is hard to stop. Meat packers etc. hire because they cannot get anybody else. The 1 industry that I am familiar with that hires many is the home construction industry. A company bids a drywall contract on a house and pays piece wages to illegals to complete it. Goes on all of the time in virtually all fields of housing construction.

This would be an interesting experiment.

The repubs/Trump should offer the democrats the Rush Limbaugh solution to illegal immigration to see if they would agree. That is, all illegals in the country right now would be granted immediate citizenship except for one thing. They would not be allowed to vote for at least 20 years, but would have all other rights.

Think the politicians would agree to this "solution"?
