How ironic...I'm watching lines of police elbow to elbow protecting white people as they left from the rally in San Diego and it reminded me of images from 1957 where black students were being protected and escorted into school by armed forces. Eisenhower, the Republican Presdident ordered the integration over-ruling Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus to uphold Brown vs. Board of Education.
Our world is always changing, the universe pulsing with energy. What goes around comes around, and it's sad to watch a priviledged society desperately hang on to their own intolerance and greed...but that's karma. The forces of progress and enlightenment cannot be stopped, karmic balance is inevitable. President Obama eloquently highlighted that at Hiroshima yesterday by paying homage to the people of Japan and the survivors.
We will miss Mr. Obama as our leader. It's more than policy or legislative achievements. His Presidency highlights who we want to be as a country, as a leader to set the tone for our collective soul. The dark side is fighting very hard to hold on - torture, intolerence, verbal abuse, greed, lust, abuse of power, bullying seems to be in vogue right now. But I believe otherwise.
The media has glorified these attributes for profit, but we can rise above this nonsense. People who are caught up in the whirlwind of negativity are still in the vast minority. Some are angry at government, and they have a right to be. But like Bernie said "democracty is messy" and it should be. We need to air our differences and come up with the best plan we can at the time. And next time, we have a better plan, and again and again. Ted Kennedy said sometimes he wanted a quarter, he would settle for a nickle...next time a dime, and if he got to $.20 that was good...better than zero.
And, that's what we will get if people vote for Trump or vote against Hillary...maybe even less than zero...let's not let the Little Rock 9 go to waste by electing another Orval Faubus with orange skin...
