It seems to me (only from memory) that the 1994 assault weapons ban led to Republican control of the House of Representatives. There's that old saying: once bit, twice shy.

If you actually read about why Reid decided to drop the ban.....

It was because he couldn't get 60 votes!!!

This is just the Republican's "block" and "say no" to everything tactic at work.

The Republican think that this tactic is actual governing.
