Polygamy was created by the founder of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith. He wanted to have sex with a young girl in the community so he created a story about the wife of a couple dying and going to heaven. When her husband remarries and then the new couple both die, in heaven the man has multiple wives. This history is reported in the book, No Man Knows My History, The Life of Joseph Smith by Fawn Brodie.
Polygamy results in one man marrying multiple women. Young men in the polygamous community must compete with the single husband for wives so young men are forced to leave the community.
In the polygamous community, Colorado City, AZ, teenage boys are driven to Salt Lake and abandoned on the streets.
