Well like in America , the mostly right wing corporatist media never did their job and properly vetted this guy or maybe it was deliberate , who knows. Almost no one in Canada was aware our current Prime Minister was one of the founding members of an extremist right wing think tank , called the Northern Foundation. In the mid 80's Mr Stephen Harper our current Prime Minister ,as a member of the Northern Foundation , openly supported the white racist apartheid regime of South Africa's DeKlerk, openly called Nelson Mandela a terrorist and called for his iimprisonment for life. Back home in Canada at a 1996, at a meeting of right wing industrialists , Harper stood in front of the crowd and in summery told them , the 8 million French speaking people of Quebec were a French ghetto and that Canada was an English speaking country , even though the French language is enshrined in our seat of Government. In the coming federal elections October of this year , we Canadians get to right our wrong, Like most right wing governments, Harper snuck into supreme power as a result of an apathetic electorate, last election he was given a majority government ( much more power than even your President) with 39% of the eligible voters and since that moment Harper true corporatist colors have shown through. Harper has attacked virtually every department in government , has has spent hundreds of millions of tax payer money fighting our own Supreme Court who have refused to give in to his demands, he spent a billion tax payer dollars on security at Toronto's G20 conference , that resulted in the largest mass arrest of Canadians in Canada's history. One of our most famous writers Farley Mowat called Harper , 'the most dangerous man , ever elected to Canadian office' and of course i agree.
