Cupp took on one of the great mysteries of this election cycle - and maybe American history - in a new column over at Townhall.com. "Why Trump?" she marveled. She looked a few a theories - maybe Republicans are bad people and he's tapped into the conservative base - or maybe he's resonating with the disenfranchised Republican voter who's tired of establishment politics. But she thinks it's something else - she writes that, "Thanks to unrelenting demands by the left for increasingly preposterous levels of political correctness over the past decade, people are simply fed up. Trump survives - nay thrives! - because he is seen as the antidote, bravely and unimpeachably standing athwart political correctness." So there are two things here: have we gone too far with political correctness? And have we so gone so overboard with political correctness that Trump's candidacy - and all the boisterous insults and media shenanigans that come with it - is the natural backlash?
