I believe it's a 50/50 proposition, those who want to stay in office may come to their senses and figure out they will lose out in 2014, and start doing their jobs, representing the people of their districts. Others, are still beating the same ol' drum, saying they'll give up Norquist's pledge if Democrats are willing to give up entitlements, still trying to hold the middle class hostage. With the GOP imploding...however...anything is possible! There's the old saying if you keep doing the same thing over and over and getting the same results, maybe it's time to change it. Are they capable of learning that lesson?
The sick and wrong thing here is that these very actions of going along with lobbyists like Norquist to get elected, add to that election rigging in so many forms, shows how weak they believe they are...and how weak their party's agenda is. If their ideas had merit that applied to all or most of our society, and the elected had any real integrity about working for the good of the nation, and not the greed of a few, obviously more middle class people might get behind them, and they would not need lobbyists bribes, and threats. Yet they choose corruption, cheating, dirty tricks, rather then changing their agenda.
Not sure how it could be done but it would be better if there were restrictions or some of way of reining in lobbyists, especially the corporate, bankster, Wall Streeters who are corrupting goverment, and attempting to drown out the common man. Along with Move to Amend, we need a big movement for election reform.
I agree Norquist's actions are anti-American.
They'll appear to do it in order to maintain their office, but will still be beholden to the 1%, and will vote to benefit them.
