I could have voted GOP and achived the same results. What a let down.
Why blame the president? We'll burn anybody's natural gas, we don't care where it comes from.
Now, if you want to blame him for the lack of effort towards building our renewable energy infrastructure then I'd be with you.
Obama has nothing to lose by standing up to big oil, but his love of "compromise" says he'll give in once again. Moving to clean energy is already happening at a grass roots level, and on some state levels. Like the auto replacing the horse and buggy, we can change the demand by embracing clean energy as much as possible on our own, and simply minimize the use of dirty energy until it's pretty much a thing of the past. The federal government isn't listening to the people and protests seem to fall on deaf ears. Our best alternative may be to just do these things on our own as much as we can, and perhaps create local groups that can help those who can't afford solar panels or electric cars, sort of like Habitat for Humanity on a broader scale.
President Obama said over the weekend -- where? Florida? -- when asked what his stand was on global warming, he answered that global warming will have to take a backseat for now. Jobs were his number one priority and if meant global warming measures would get in the way of jobs then jobs have it, global warming will have to wait. Maybe in another year or two, global warming could be revisited but not for now. President Obama's record on the environment has been disappointing. When it comes to oil patch, I don't see any difference between his policies and those of his predecessor, George Bush.
