I am so sick and tired of being told those fighting overseas are "protecting our freedoms". Nothing could be further from the truth, they are fighting for corporate PROFITS not our "freedoms " which has been declining for decades.
These brave, deluded, young people have been lied too & that could be why so many return with TSD as they discover they risked their lives and limbs just so some corporations that make military hardware can make extreme profits. Too many of "our troops" return in a box or forever disabled and horribly disfigured by fire or GSW.
We must end ALL our illegal wars, end ALL our free trade disasters, slash military spending, raise tariffs, get the corporations out of government & provide decient aid for those veterants who have made it back here.
Too many vets are homeless & suffering from untreated illnesses including mental illnesses.This is criminal for a country with so much wealth at the top 5%. Tax the rich & corporations that are not paying their fair share if anything.
I voted for this one ( NO! They shouldn't have to wait for medical & disability benefits.) but we need to end unneccasary wars as well.
I guess we'll see if they're treated better than our Vietnam vets, but since Korea, the US government got into the habit of enlisting soldiers, using them up and throwing them away. On the issue of homelessness: This generation "got tough on the poor." Brutal, in fact. No one cares who you were before you became poor, or why you're on the streets now. Any status you had is gone. The middle class decided that if you are not currently of use to an employer, you are not deserving of food and shelter. It doesn't matter if you're a vet, or if you're physically or mentally ill, if you're a mom, a factory worker, a carpenter or a teacher. The only thing people see is that you're poor and on the streets, and they have nothing but contempt for you.
There should be an option for "Both of the Above."
