I agree with not being gender biased, but not paid and I also think employees who are single or just not having kids, should have the right to take the same amount of time off. Leave of absense, without worrying about losing your job. There are plenty of things single people do for kids, with their taxes (public education and medicare). I think they should not be the ones to bear the burden of the extra work load alone. So if we pass a law that is unbiased with respect to gender, then I think it should apply to marital status (or more precise, to people not having babies) as well.
"If we are going to live in a Democracy, we need to have a healthy middle class. Thom Hartmann shows us how the ‘cons’ have wronged this country, and tells us what needs to be done to reclaim what it is to be American."
—Eric Utne, Founder, Utne magazine
From Unequal Protection, 2nd Edition:
"If you wonder why and when giant corporations got the power to reign supreme over us, here’s the story."
—Jim Hightower, national radio commentator and author of Swim Against the Current
From Cracking the Code:
"In Cracking the Code, Thom Hartmann, America’s most popular, informed, and articulate progressive talk show host and political analyst, tells us what makes humans vulnerable to unscrupulous propagandists and what we can do about it. It is essential reading for all Americans who are fed up with right-wing extremists manipulating our minds and politics to promote agendas contrary to our core values and interests."
—David C. Korten, author of The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community and When Corporations Rule the World and board chair of YES! magazine
