Interesting---two "Yes" votes. Are low wage workers inspiring a new union movement, actually the correct answer is "no". Not that we couldn't do with a new union movement; one seperated from the hooks of the Democratic Party which is interested in sucking dry the coffers of the unions or in "using, abusing and losing" union volunteers.
Unions need to redefine themselves and what they stand for and what they can and intend to accomplish. They need to divorce themselves from the "Plan A" wing of the Corporate Party (with "Plan B" being the GOP). They need to create a third, independant political party and run working class candidates who are interested solely in taking care of the needs of the Working Class (including those who formerly belonged so something once referred to as a "Middle Class").
We need to secure our borders. Reform our economic system including an audit on the Federal Reserve and a either a flat or consumpation based tax system. We need to find heavily companies which outsource jobs or employ illegal immigrants--including losing any tax advantages and/or operationial licenses. We need to scrap "Obamacare" and switch to a single payer plan. We need term limits and eliminate BS laws like Citizens United and McCutcheons while capping or eliminating what lobbists and corporations can give and do. We need a line item veto. We need to eliminate gerrymandering and allow non-partisan associations (like universites) to establish boundries. We need to promote alternative energy; make it a national priority while nationalizing oil, gas, and electrial companies since they claim what they do is apart of "national security". We need to stop bribing foreign governments.
These are all ideas a third party/independent union party could adopt. The only trouble I see, besides winning a lot of offices, is the Corporate party's "Plan A" and "Plan B" wings trying to co-opt the ideas in order to water them down or deflate them.
There were protests in Little Rock, AR today, which made the local news. Although there were 11 people arrested, they were all released without a major problem. And, nice to see that the police were dressed like normal police and not ninja cops with full battle gear. Surprised that our AR cops are not all militarized, but then AR did have a democratic Governor and legislature until 2012. Well, still have a Democratic Governor, Mike Beebe who I like quite well but he's term limited out at the end of this year. We'll miss him. Former Congressman Mike Ross is running on the Democratic ticket but he's not the good Demcratic that Beebe is. He voted more then 1/2 the time with the Tea Party and not my idea of a true Democrat but better then Republican Asa Hutchinson who is his oppononet.
Your list is too long and therefore impossible to get anything done. Let's start with helping each other without any ice water. The young are showing us the way. One step at a time or skipping all the way it can get better.
