Since everything about the EU has been a 'fudge' from the word GO, the EU will do whatever is necessary ultimately to accomodate Greece. Furthermore, Germany which is historically not a 'well-loved' nation in the EU , will not want to add to its "domineering" reputation by pushing the 'little guy' over the cliff. On top of that, a Grexit could usher in extreme right parties which are waiting in the wings. Unlike the US , many European right wing parties oppose draconian auterity programs as in France, Italy, Portugal, Spain. So, I believe, a deal will be done.
