From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann seeks out interesting subjects from such disparate outposts of curiosity that you have to wonder whether or not he uncovered them or they selected him."
—Leonardo DiCaprio, actor, producer, and environmental activist
From Unequal Protection, 2nd Edition:
"Beneath the success and rise of American enterprise is an untold history that is antithetical to every value Americans hold dear. This is a seminal work, a godsend really, a clear message to every citizen about the need to reform our country, laws, and companies."
—Paul Hawken, coauthor of Natural Capitalism and author of The Ecology of Commerce
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"With the ever-growing influence of corporate CEOs and their right-wing allies in all aspects of American life, Hartmann’s work is more relevant than ever. Throughout his career, Hartmann has spoken compellingly about the value of people-centered democracy and the challenges that millions of ordinary Americans face today as a result of a dogma dedicated to putting profit above all else. This collection is a rousing call for Americans to work together and put people first again."
—Richard Trumka, President, AFL-CIO

Yes, Medicare is IMPORTANT, but the few times I've been ill in my 67 years, what I had to pay out after Medicare, was still OUTRAGEOUS! But I paid it, as little and as long as I could!
Being 67 years old, a Black American woman, I can count on Both of my HAND'S, how many times I had to use the Emergency Room, and having to be Hospitalized!
What troubles me so much is that, I am NOT a sickly Person, what I MUST PAY into my Healthcare Coverage, what I don't need, why can't what I don't need, GO TO THE NEEDY?
It's why these GREEDY EVIL CEO'S don't want to cover People whom have lifelong illnesses; because, they do NOT want to see that they get the best CARE, all they want is our PREMIUMS in their Pockets and OFF SHORE BANK ACCOUNTS! I am having dry heaves, thinking about how these BASTARDS are RIPPING US OFF ... FOR WHAT, WHAT CAN THEY DO WITH ALL THAT MONEY???? Not HELP the People, but make them SLAVES TO THEM?
It VERY MUCH ANGERS ME, that I must pay this extra $40. month along with what they are taking from my Social Security Benefits, an additional 140.month; yet I don't need it, but it can't be SHARED AMONG the People who could use the COVERAGE!
This to me is all about GREED and outrageous EVIL! How can the Wealthy HAVE IT ALL, yet DENY the POOR of the HEALTHCARE they NEED?
Don't tell me, I'm not READY for a REVOLUTION, I AM READY!
and they say, BLACK FOLKS have HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE; watching us being KILLED by Racist Cops, everyday of the week ... are they kidding us?
It's STRESS .... NOT OUR DIET'S .... WONDERING WHEN WE WILL BE NEXT!

Medicare has been very good to me but the supplemental insurance policies are something else! For one, they are very limiting in scope and are capped. Between Medicare premiums and supplemental medical and pharm insurance, they take 1/5 of my income. This isn't right. I want to see the day when we have Medicare for all....and I mean a Medicare system like my Canadian relatives enjoy....now that would be something, indeed.
Actually both are right answers, it has been successful, but needs to go further in coverage, it should cover prescriptions, as in there shouldnt be a co pay more than 3 dollars for any prscription, it can also cover dental, and vision,as well as the eligibilty age lowered to 0.
What a stupid damn question. No medicare should be 100% coverage. your second sentence ruins the first. I a devout libertarian but bush's part D made my mothers medication impossible. Medicare for all who paid into it. Social Security is not an entitlement. We paid into it.
Part D is just a gift to big Pharma. Drugs were cheaper when bought from Canada than now even with the partial subsidy; Part D just covers a part of the gouge.
Roland
Medicare is a success, its shortcomings can be measured by the depth of the dichotomy whenever it has been in question, from its inception to the present day. That my friends is the democratic process.
