Images of Thom
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"In an age rife with media-inspired confusion and political cowardice, we yearn for a decent, caring, deeply human soul whose grasp of the problems confronting us provides a light by which we can make our way through the quagmire of lies, distortions, pandering, and hollow self-puffery that strips the American Dream of its promise. How lucky we are, then, to have access to the wit, wisdom, and willingness of Thom Hartmann, who shares with us here that very light, grown out of his own life experience."
—Mike Farrell, actor, political activist, and author of Just Call Me Mike and Of Mule and Man
From Unequal Protection, 2nd Edition:
"Hartmann combines a remarkable piece of historical research with a brilliant literary style to tell the grand story of corporate corruption and its consequences for society with the force and readability of a great novel."
—David C. Korten, author of When Corporations Rule the World and Agenda for A New Economy
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann is a literary descendent of Ben Franklin and Tom Paine. His unflinching observations and deep passion inspire us to explore contemporary culture, politics, and economics; challenge us to face the facts of the societies we are creating; and empower us to demand a better world for our children and grandchildren."
—John Perkins, author of the New York Times bestselling book Confessions of an Economic Hit Man

All the focus on overtly narcissistic men like Donald Trump feels dangerous for women to me. Most people aren't aware (I wasn't until this month) that not every man with NPD is as unable to disguise his sociopathy as is Trump. I don't like Trump, but at least we can see him coming, and for that, I'm grateful. I think that's why I have so much more anger towards Bill Clinton than I do towards Trump. Clinton represents himself as a man who cares about the vulnerable and other people's feelings. Covert Narcissists like Bill Clinton are scarier, because they are charming and better at putting forward a public image that makes people trust them. They can fake empathy, but they can't feel it, so, they hurt people, and they do it without any guilt. They don't have a conscience but they are able to convince others that they do, which is what makes them toxic. It causes more damage, especially for those who are trusting and empathetic, as women tend more often to be in a patriarchal culture.
