Sundance Swindle? Director Robert Redford launched the Sundance Channel fourteen years ago to broadcast independent and progressive films from all over the world. It is pretty surprising that the network is now showing the notoriously inaccurate “Great Global Warming Swindle," a British-made global-warming denier movie. When this was first broadcast on British television to an audience of 2.5 million in 2007, real scientists were appalled. The British Antarctic Survey said, “any scientist found to have falsified data in the manner of the [film] would be guilty of serious professional misconduct." Robert Redford - whose Kool-Aid have you been drinking? This movie is neither new nor a movie - it's an old, disproven, discredited propaganda tract for the fossil fuel industry.
In Strange News...In Jupiter Florida, an overgrown lawn could cost a homeowner up to $5,000 a day. The current maximum fine of $250 per day could be boosted to $5,000 a day for repeat offenders. Come on Jupiter - lighten up a little - let's call them botanical gardens instead.

Off topic I guess here but I had a question about the KSM (and the rest) trial. How are we going to get a jury of their peers?

Tim - "of their peers" just means that nobles try nobles, commoners try commoners. So just about everyone in NYC is a peer of KSM.
Getting an unbiased, untainted jury will be a problem. But it's doable; there really are people who will set aside what they've heard outside the courtroom and rule on the evidence presented ... or at least who will say convincingly that they will.

Very strange your entry about the "Great Global Warming Swindle". I've visited the Sundance Channel web site and they do not have any listing for this film as currently showing. Yes, it is listed in their library but it is not scheduled so I guess it is NOT "now showing". Maybe you could post when it is scheduled to be shown.
I have personally visited the Sundance Ranch on a project and met Robert Redford many years ago. He didn't seem to be the type that talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. I suspect that this film is in their listings because it is important to see what the other side is saying. We too often get wrapped up in just looking at what we agree with.

Robert did lose control of the Sundance Channel in 2008 when it was sold to Rainbow Media a subsidiary of Cablevison. Redford no longer had ownership rights but remains with the network. This is how money continues to control the media and it's content.
