Being under-employed is just as bad as being unemployed. The GOP are masters of keeping the 98% in both conditions and them wants to blame them for not "wanting" to work. I don't see the Walton's working all that hard, and yet they pull down millions per month in welfare from the very people they want to accuse of being shiftless losers. Just because the media is not reporting truth does not necessarily mean the public isn't aware of what the truth about their condition really is.
Yes, and it's a great talking point for progressive candidates. If there are enough people helping to get out the vote, there could be some changes, despite GOP manipulation. Typically mid-term elections have a low voter turnout. Let's hope enough Republicans are disgusted enough with their party nut cases that even gerrymandering won't be a big factor.
"In an age rife with media-inspired confusion and political cowardice, we yearn for a decent, caring, deeply human soul whose grasp of the problems confronting us provides a light by which we can make our way through the quagmire of lies, distortions, pandering, and hollow self-puffery that strips the American Dream of its promise. How lucky we are, then, to have access to the wit, wisdom, and willingness of Thom Hartmann, who shares with us here that very light, grown out of his own life experience."
—Mike Farrell, actor, political activist, and author of Just Call Me Mike and Of Mule and Man
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann seeks out interesting subjects from such disparate outposts of curiosity that you have to wonder whether or not he uncovered them or they selected him."
—Leonardo DiCaprio, actor, producer, and environmental activist
From Unequal Protection, 2nd Edition:
"Hartmann combines a remarkable piece of historical research with a brilliant literary style to tell the grand story of corporate corruption and its consequences for society with the force and readability of a great novel."
—David C. Korten, author of When Corporations Rule the World and Agenda for A New Economy
