Show Your Support for Single-Payer Healthcare--HR 676 Today!
On Sunday, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said on C-SPAN that he would oppose any comprehensive health care reform in 2009. And the next day, Judiciary Chairman John Conyers reintroduced HR 676, the single-payer health bill that was co-sponsored by 93 members of Congress last year, including James Clyburn.
Congressman Clyburn needs to know that he cannot take single-payer health care off the table. So on Friday, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) together with its allies in the progressive community have organized the Single-Payer Moment. We need to flood Congressman Clyburn's DC office with your phone calls asking him to keep single-payer on the table and to co-sponsor HR 676.
Air America and progressive radio talk show host Thom Hartmann will be helping us get the word out. He's heard live and he will be taking calls (866-303-2270) about single-payer healthcare in the last 2 hours and urging folks to do 2 things:
Call Congressman Clyburn and ask him to whip up support for HR 676: 202-225-3315
Call your member of Congress and ask that they support and co-sponsor HR 676: 202-224-3121

Thom's Blog Is On the Move

Hello All

From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"With the ever-growing influence of corporate CEOs and their right-wing allies in all aspects of American life, Hartmann’s work is more relevant than ever. Throughout his career, Hartmann has spoken compellingly about the value of people-centered democracy and the challenges that millions of ordinary Americans face today as a result of a dogma dedicated to putting profit above all else. This collection is a rousing call for Americans to work together and put people first again."
Richard Trumka, President, AFL-CIO
From Cracking the Code:
"No one communicates more thoughtfully or effectively on the radio airwaves than Thom Hartmann. He gets inside the arguments and helps people to think them through—to understand how to respond when they’re talking about public issues with coworkers, neighbors, and friends. This book explores some of the key perspectives behind his approach, teaching us not just how to find the facts, but to talk about what they mean in a way that people will hear."

From Cracking the Code:
"Thom Hartmann ought to be bronzed. His new book sets off from the same high plane as the last and offers explicit tools and how-to advice that will allow you to see, hear, and feel propaganda when it's directed at you and use the same techniques to refute it. His book would make a deaf-mute a better communicator. I want him on my reading table every day, and if you try one of his books, so will you."
