@harry ashburn, post 69 from Thursday, April 29, 2010, my position on women is that they should rule in all the countries on our planet. Men have tried and they have been proven to be losers in making our world a better place.
@ Zero G, post 160 from Thursday, April 29, 2010, the Historical Jesus books expanded upon each other through updating the information.
@Mazrot, post 161 from April 29, 2010, if the Catholic Church would permit priests to marry, the Church would be more viable and membership would expand. The Church is losing membership because she will not move forward and she has become too political in our current American environment and the Church has lost her moral compass. The trend in membership is to lose five million members each year since 1985.
@Thom, the time has arrived for you to shake your symbiotic relationship with the United States of Hell as having any kind of a future.
Evil kills itself. I was watching "Gunsmoke," April 29, 2010, on cable T.V. One of the persons on the show said, "Evil kills itself." These three words say it all. In time our evil, vile, and wicked country will kill herself.
@all commenters, Jesus' health care plan does not refuse anyone from receiving His medical care even if these people have a pre-existing health or medical condition. Jesus' heart was always filled with love, mercy, and forgiveness. We, as God's children, need to practice the Golden Rule.

@gerald, the survival of the Catholic church does not concern me, whether it continues or not, I don't really care.
I say this as a Catholic, baptized right after birth, 12 years of Catholic Schooling and about 5 years of being an alter boy. The structure of the Church is corrupt, and too far to the right for me. I think the last straw was the anti-Prop 8 posters in front of my local Church. I don't have time for their hyprocrisy anymore.... period.

We need Teach Ins on the Afghanistan war.

@Maxrot: can you rent a car or buy an airline ticket without a credit card?
@Gerald: Jesus has no deductable!

Collapse of the Standard of Living in the USA
A series of recent studies conducted by the Pew Research Center shed new light on the scope of the economic crisis in the US and the level of hostility the majority of the American population holds for the US government.
I suggest that it is the HOSTILITY we must gird against. This is a dangerous game the elite are playing. Did you know they are buying apartments on board luxury ships to live at sea and avoid coming unrest that they are stoking?
It's insane.

@Maxrot, when I enter my Church, I look upon my entrance into the Church as I Am Called to God; I Am Taught (the readings); and I Am Fed (the Holy Communion). My attendance in some small way is to honor, praise, and thank my God for His patience with me as a sinner.

@harry, I wouldn't know about either, I haven't flown on an airplane since I was 8, and the only time I needed a rental car was when a moron rear ended my car that then had to be in a repair shop, Insurance company covered that. However, I use the Visa debit card issued to me by my Credit Union issued me, to do any credit card like transactions. If I don't have the money in my account to buy it, I don't buy it (whatever "it" might be). The only thing I've purchased in the last ten years on any type of credit was a new Honda Civic, it was financed through Honda, and I'm extremely pleased to have paid off that debt, and it will be a long time before I go bother to do such again.
N

@harry ashburn, what is so great about Jesus' health and healing practices, Jesus does not require money up front. He offers me His health care plan with love. How can a person not honor, praise, and thank Jesus for His infinite love?

Teach-In on Afghanistan...Read This:

@Zero G, in the Holy Bible there is a verse in Matthew's writings. He says, "With God all things are possible." With my faith I accept the virgin birth.

@Thom, insane policies and practices are offered to us by insane people, such as our politicians and the sociopaths who run American corporations.

@Gerald, and my not going to Church is in my way of honoring God in that I'm not particpating in the what I perceive to be an organization that mocks him with the audacity to preach hate in his name. I'm not knocking you for your belief, or practices. I just don't share them... that's all.
N
@Maxrot that's why i never gave up my master card, 'cause i needed it to fly or rent a car or get a hotel room
@Gerald: re Jesus: you're right. I was under sedation, but Im pretty sure Jesus was assisting during my last colonoscopy.

@Maxrot, all people are different from each other in beliefs and thinking processes. Bishops and priests are human beings with human faults and weaknesses. God is not at fault for bishops and priests losing their moral compasses. In Church my focus is on my God, a loving, a merciful, and a forgiving God. I differentiate between God and priests in my attendance at Church.

@gerald, and I differentiate between going to church and believing in God.
N

@harry ashburn, I cannot speak for God being with you at your last colonoscopy. I do know with my massive heart attack in October, 1994, Mary, the mother of Jesus, was at my bedside.
@Gerald: I was born in a Catholic hospital, I'll be sure and go to one next time.

I am assigning all commenters some weekend homework. Here are two assignments - one, let us take time to practice the Golden Rule and two, let us have some time for sacramental moments. Sacramental moments are the good deeds we do for God's children.

@harry ashburn, I was at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan for my heart attack and heart treatment.

I am now taking sometime for some R & R. If I am receiving a attention post, I will try to comment later this evening or Saturday, May 1, 2010, morning. Have a great evening!!!

Thom has argued that it is essential to keep the presidency in Democratic hands in order to shape the Supreme Court. It sounds logical, no? But take a gander at Glenn Greenwald's latest article and ask yourself, Whisky Tango Foxtrot?
With friends like these...who needs enemas?

Excerpt from Glenn Greenwald:
UPDATE: With regard to the other topic here from yesterday -- the Obama DOJ's issuance of a supboena to Jim Risen -- see this Washington Post article headlined "After reporter's subpoena, critics call Obama's leak-plugging efforts Bush-like." The article, by Howard Kurtz, explains that the subpoena "has convinced some press advocates that President Obama's team is pursuing leaks with the same fervor as the Bush administration" and includes this:
"The message they are sending to everyone is, 'You leak to the media, we will get you,' " said Lucy Dalglish, executive director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. In the wake of the Bush administration's aggressive stance toward the press, she said, "as far as I can tell there is absolutely no difference, and the Obama administration seems to be paying more attention to it. This is going to get nasty."
It was once the case, not all that long ago, that those who pointed out the extreme similarities between the Obama and Bush administrations in these areas were accused of being hysterical, impetuous purists. It's now the case that those who do so are guilty of nothing more than stating the obvious.
See above post link for full article...

A little bottom end humor there, Harry...

As the T-Party people begin to strip more and more moderates out of their party, I can only guess that the big tent looks more and more inviting to the outcasts. Seems like the left is drifting further and further to the Reich all the time.
N

@Zero G, on these Obama-Bush similarities, rladlof has told us so in many ways.

I am growing very concered about this oil disaster, Speculation will drive up oil prices causing a win for the oil companies, The media is focusing on the oil spill and not the lack of enforcement of safety that caused the disaster which will keep the back lash focused on just this event and not wide spread change in practices.
This is also taking focus from finacial reform that will require very strong public support to get anything done, immigration may even be swept under the rug again. I think everyone (in the main stream) has forgotten about campaign finance reform and our government will be completely corpritists in a couple years.

The USCG under orders from BP threatened to arrest a CBS film crew.
I think the Coast Guard has their guns pointed the wrong way.
(figuratively speaking, of course.)
I habitually decline every credit card offer. Never had one, and yet I still live and breathe, don't ask me how I've been able to survive this long without one, though I suspect squirreling money away into a savings account is part of it.
