Today's Democracy Now! includes a commemoration of the Jackson State killings, 1970, 10 days after Kent State.

two thoughts on the oil spill

1. why aren't the super Christians upset at the oil companies for destroying God's Green Earth?

2. when the Space Shuttles blew up they stopped flights until the problems were fixed. why can't this policy work now? fewer people were killed and less ecological damage was done during either one.

Ditto on the Democracy Now! Ironically, I had just come here to post this:

Amy Goodman interviews Antonia Juhasz. Antonio says any time you drill at depths of 500 feet or lower offshore there is a very good chance of triggering a methane bubble. Antonio also expresses the relationship between America's Wall Street and the price of oil.

And now....for my next trick:

Did BP take my idea? I emailed them a copy of my suggestion that I emailed both Norman Goldman and Ring of Fire Radio May 10, 2010 with this suggestion to remediate the oil gusher:

Couldn’t Big Pig create a vacuum like a sump pump and slurp the oil up? The

heavier density fluid in the lighter density water and given a heat source beneath a lesser temperature would help drive and separate the fluids like as in a lava lamp.

Sorry in advance, just brainstorming.

To email your suggestion to BP enter here: http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/go/inquiry/2931/

Think I will tell them to take the $$$ they spend on lawyers and marketing to just clean up their fricking mess! And to hire some real environmental scientists. hrummph!

@newtrev re #6: answer #1:the super Christians don't want to run out of oil.

Love Senator Sanders, think he is like 1 of maybe 6 in the senate that actually work for the people 95% of both parties are just bought and paid for hacks.

Responding to the Senators comment that we need a president who will stand up for the American people, I agree with him. But if anyone thinks that Obama will due that, they are still deluding themselves. Look at how he wasted his first year, Look at who's at treasury, look who he put at justice, he and his administration is just much in bed with the powers that be as any of them. He was never some brilliant outsider. He is and was a cold calculating politician that encourage way to many to create a fantasy candidate that he was not. So glade I didn't vote for him.(voted for Ralph by the way)

If the Hedge funds are attacking the stability of Soveirgn Nations could they be considered Terrorists? America deems all entities actively seeking to bring about our downfall as Terrorists...

oh, wait - not the rich... I forgot. Sorry, nevermind...

@Maxguy; amen. We Americans keep looking for a savior. No matter how many times I try to tell people about public campaign financing, their eyes glaze-over, they pretend to understand; 5 minutes later they're again saying "If we could just find the right candidate who won't sell out". Sigh :(

Public financing! OK so like who in Washington would ever allow that to go through? They make to much money off the current system. It's like actually having a code of ethic's with an outside review board, never going to happen.

harry ashburn 16 years 12 weeks ago

@Maxguy: they could handle it like they handle other similar situations...make it take effect in the future!

@maxguy8, you're right Washington wont let it happen, but thankfully all politics are local, so we keep the pressure on our states first. Instant Runoff Voting is a good way to start.

Haven't you heard, Jesus is coming back soon? Therefor there are fundamentalist Christians who believe it doesn't matter.

I love listening to KTLK, our governor race has brought the Republican Meg Whitman to campaign on this station. I guess her answer to tanking polls is to push hard against illegal aliens... I'm guessing she really wants to make sure she loses.

Freakin' hilarious to listen to it. I can't imagine California electing her, if we do, we all deserve to be horse whipped.

@MaxNels -

You're depressed - I'm suspicious.

They're taking the network at my office down this evening to install "upgrades".

Probably something to block streaming applications. This means you're probably losing me, too.

If I'm not here Monday, y'all will know why.

Peace.

Thom's Blog Is On the Move

Hello All

Thom's blog in this space and moving to a new home.

Please follow us across to hartmannreport.com - this will be the only place going forward to read Thom's blog posts and articles.

From Cracking the Code:
"No one communicates more thoughtfully or effectively on the radio airwaves than Thom Hartmann. He gets inside the arguments and helps people to think them through—to understand how to respond when they’re talking about public issues with coworkers, neighbors, and friends. This book explores some of the key perspectives behind his approach, teaching us not just how to find the facts, but to talk about what they mean in a way that people will hear."
Paul Loeb, author of Soul of a Citizen
From Screwed:
"Hartmann speaks with the straight talking clarity and brilliance of a modern day Tom Paine as he exposes the intentional and systematic destruction of America’s middle class by an alliance of political con artists and outlines a program to restore it. This is Hartmann at his best. Essential reading for those interested in restoring the institution that made America the envy of the world."
David C. Korten, author of The Great Turning and When Corporations Rule the World
From Screwed:
"The powers that be are running roughshod over the powers that OUGHT to be. Hartmann tells us what went wrong — and what you and I can do to help set American right again."
Jim Hightower, National Radio Commentator, Writer, Public Speaker, and author of the bestselling Thieves in High Places
