It is idiotic to assume that anyone would be a virgin on their wedding night (and every person who alludes to this or says it outright should be asked if they were).

And no, abstinence is no guarantee to save you from pregnancy or disease if you are raped. So you do need to know what your options are, how to protect yourself, how do deal with unwanted pregnancies, etc. This obsession the Christian Right has with unmarried sex and the need to punish those who engage in it boggles my mind. People need to grow up.

The Republicans think they can run against a bad economy, but the people are on to them, and they will end up running with a bad economy. Of course, if they bothered to fix problems, they could run with a good economy, but they're a bunch of callous idiots, as I've said before. President Obama has given them every opportunity to share credit for helping Americans, and they always refuse.

Studies have shown that teens who have had abstinance-only sex ed have sex at the same rate as those who have had comprehensive, fact-based sex ed.

The difference? Those in abstinance-only sex ed had a much higher rate of STD infection and unwanted pregnancies.

The Libertarian-ish caller who was against the HPV vacination intrigued me. First, I wonder if she felt the same way about any vacine or just this one. Second, I wonder what would happen to the research and development of vacinations in general if the massive sales by those nasty government regulations did not exist. Would we be essentionally making it unprofitable to develop any vacination? Wouldn't this apply to medical products in general if that nasty government wasn't involved in creating demand with Medicare, Medicaid, etc?

Finally, I like how Libertarian-ish say from one side of their mouth that high drug prices is a good thing since it encourages innovation while from the other side they say that high medical costs are due to insurance and that if enough people couldn't afford medical care then prices would come down. Won't innovation, available products all collapse along with dropping prices?
