Honestly Thom - I don't understand why you continue to give Carrie Lukas airtime and attention. I'm almost to the point of muting your show until she's done. Surely there are other politically minded women to whom you could lend a voice.

On free stuff; the libertarian caller alleged that Barney Frank said there is a right to home ownership, and he also mentioned Fannie/Freddie. Besides mischaracterizing what Barney Frank said, and pointing the finger at Dems; the caller did not mention that Bush in a speech said something similar.
But the topic was freedom; and Thom brought up Maslowe. The lesson that tends to be lost is that if the bottom of Maslowe's hierarchy ---basic needs--- are not satisfied; people will be less interested in the things at the top of the hierarchy --- which includes things like freedom and democracy. We have seen this play out repeatedly in our foreign policy because we don't remember the lesson of Maslowe (in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and throughout the 3rd World.) When people have inadequate food, shelter, clothing, safety, security, etc.; they are not going to be interested in freedom. And it's the same in America; if people's basic needs are not met, they will be less interested in democracy.

Wendy, What points did you disagree with? If there are only left-leaning guests, then this will only be an echo chamber. I think it prompts discussions (even if there are fundamental differences of opinions). More talk/ less demagoguery.

On Thursday, Virginia State Delegate Bob Marshall (R) spoke at a press conference against state funding for Planned Parenthood. He blasted the organization for supporting a women’s right to choose, saying that God punishes women who have had abortions by giving them disabled children:
