Obama and his conservative advisors have cynically said that liberals must support him because they have nowhere else to go. Could a strong liberal stand against his Syrian military action lead him to revise his opinion that we are always a safe vote for whatever he proposes? It might even align the progressives with the people they (supposedly) represent.
