My guess is that uninsured people don't end up on waiting lists for healthcare. This might affect the waiting list statistics. So we can't assume US stats can be directly compared with nations which have universal coverage.

Good point. Waiting lists are so susceptible to who and what are counted, and how. But they are the best we have.
