Here's a write up of the New Democrat Network from their early days:

  • Launched in June of 1996, by Senators Joe Lieberman and John Breaux, the New Democrat Network is a national network of citizens and elected officials committed to making the Democratic Party the majority party of the 21st century and the Information Age.
  • The New Democrat Network endorses candidates who advocate a new centrist, progressive approach that fosters economic growth, opportunity and fiscal responsibility: a renewed sense of community that honors citizenship, faith and family; a smaller, smarter government; and strong American leadership in world affairs.
  • Does this sound like any Republican talking points you've ever heard?

From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann is a creative thinker and committed small-d democrat. He has dealt with a wide range of topics throughout his life, and this book provides an excellent cross section. The Thom Hartmann Reader will make people both angry and motivated to act."
Dean Baker, economist and author of Plunder and Blunder, False Profits, and Taking Economics Seriously
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann is a literary descendent of Ben Franklin and Tom Paine. His unflinching observations and deep passion inspire us to explore contemporary culture, politics, and economics; challenge us to face the facts of the societies we are creating; and empower us to demand a better world for our children and grandchildren."
John Perkins, author of the New York Times bestselling book Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
From Cracking the Code:
"No one communicates more thoughtfully or effectively on the radio airwaves than Thom Hartmann. He gets inside the arguments and helps people to think them through—to understand how to respond when they’re talking about public issues with coworkers, neighbors, and friends. This book explores some of the key perspectives behind his approach, teaching us not just how to find the facts, but to talk about what they mean in a way that people will hear."
Paul Loeb, author of Soul of a Citizen
