My problem with the Democratic debate schedule is that by the start of the calendar year of the election, there is rarely much competition left within each party, but several of the debates are scheduled for after that.

RE: Rock-U-Pie Labor Day Festivals
New Pipeline Infrastructure Proposal and Plan Outline

We,(RINGS OF ALCYONE) are volunteering our performance services for events
organized to support your Presidential bid. Also have an idea we call "Rock-U-Pie"
you can read a narrative here:

We have some very pertinent new songs about issues you are speaking out on. I, now as a Band member and Songwriter, also worked many years as a Pipe Welder, Welding
Inspector, Manager, etc. I have a very specific and detailed plan I believe you may be
interested in, concerning the transportation of Oil, Natural Gas, and of all things;
Water too. I'm willing to convey the plan in detail to you or your surrogate's privately,
but it entails:
• The Govt. being the 'Direct Employer' and 'Entrepreneurial Entity' in replacing
the worn and thin walled cross-country oil and gas pipelines with Govt. built,
owned, operated, and maintained "Double Containment Pipelines" featuring
“Heavier Wall Thickness Anti Corrosive Primary Pipe" then buried in a
maintenance accessible Concrete Vault with "Leak Sensors" at regular intervals
in the "Containment(secondary) Pipe" Oil and Gas companies would be
required, by law to use the New Infrastructure and pay DOT(already oversees)
by volume, per distance. The rates should be determined on how clean or dirty
the commodity is and the particular company's environmental record.
I've witnessed first hand and many times in my 40 plus year construction career,
welding up, basically, a "Thin Metal Hose"(sometimes less than 1/4” wall thickness
when new and, meant to transport highly corrosive contents) and then pushing it into a 10' hole and burying it.

I know this plan doesn't seem very feasible in the current political climate, but
bringing it up publicly, may shake "Them" up. If it's new pipelines they want, let's do
it right and engineer them to last - AND NO 'Good Ole Boy' hiring practices either,
only local employee's hired through individual State Job Resource Centers and being
paid 'Davis-Bacon' wages.
One more thing, I have retired from the industry after years of feeling like a
hypocrite while actually witnessing the arrogant and cavalier mindset regarding the
Environment and 'Planetary Health Care' every day while at work. I'm sick of it and
so is OUR Planet.
Thanks for caring,
John

Thom's Blog Is On the Move

Hello All

Thom's blog in this space and moving to a new home.

Please follow us across to hartmannreport.com - this will be the only place going forward to read Thom's blog posts and articles.

From Unequal Protection, 2nd Edition:
"Beneath the success and rise of American enterprise is an untold history that is antithetical to every value Americans hold dear. This is a seminal work, a godsend really, a clear message to every citizen about the need to reform our country, laws, and companies."
Paul Hawken, coauthor of Natural Capitalism and author of The Ecology of Commerce
From Screwed:
"Hartmann speaks with the straight talking clarity and brilliance of a modern day Tom Paine as he exposes the intentional and systematic destruction of America’s middle class by an alliance of political con artists and outlines a program to restore it. This is Hartmann at his best. Essential reading for those interested in restoring the institution that made America the envy of the world."
David C. Korten, author of The Great Turning and When Corporations Rule the World
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann is a literary descendent of Ben Franklin and Tom Paine. His unflinching observations and deep passion inspire us to explore contemporary culture, politics, and economics; challenge us to face the facts of the societies we are creating; and empower us to demand a better world for our children and grandchildren."
John Perkins, author of the New York Times bestselling book Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
