GREEN WORLD RISING
Press release : 20 August 2014

Tree Media rarely sends out email, but in this time of accelerated climate change, we felt that this was an important moment. We are releasing a series of short films, free to the public this week, called Green World Rising.

The series is narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio and created in collaboration with Thom Hartmann and George DiCaprio. The series will comprise four films that will all be completed prior to the United Nations Climate Summit this September 2014. (Press Release below)

Given the alarming list of severe climate impacts in the Arctic, in the South Seas and in places closer to home like New York City and California; AND in light of the business-as-usual attitude that still prevails, resulting in dangerously increasing levels of carbon in our atmosphere; we believe that getting the word out on solutions and the risks is critical. All four films create a whole picture, from the pathway forward to the peril we face if we don't take action.

We begin the series with CARBON, a solution to keep carbon in the ground; then GREEN WORLD RISING on the technologies that will power our future and RESTORATION about the earth's capacities to heal and reverse the damage; and we end with LAST HOURS, a scenario we should avoid if we all work together and take the necessary steps to stop carbon emissions.

Working alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Thom Hartmann, this film series is backed up by the website greenworldrising.org that has a list of real solutions to the biggest challenge that faces humanity.

Let’s stop pirouetting on the edge of disaster and come together to implement the changes we know we need to make; changes that have been on the shelf for years, we just need the will to implement them.

These changes will create a sustainable world that will not only be cleaner, healthier, and more economically robust but it will be a viable, safer and secure world; a world in which our children’s children, and let’s think, seven generations coming, will thrive.

We have more projects that will be released in the upcoming months and years ( the last sentence informed by our project with the Iroquois Confederacy that we will announce soon) and we hope that you check back in with us. We thank all of you for your continued interest and support over these years. And last but not least, please help us spread the word!

With thanks and gratitude,
Leila & Mathew

From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Right through the worst of the Bush years and into the present, Thom Hartmann has been one of the very few voices constantly willing to tell the truth. Rank him up there with Jon Stewart, Bill Moyers, and Paul Krugman for having the sheer persistent courage of his convictions."

From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"With the ever-growing influence of corporate CEOs and their right-wing allies in all aspects of American life, Hartmann’s work is more relevant than ever. Throughout his career, Hartmann has spoken compellingly about the value of people-centered democracy and the challenges that millions of ordinary Americans face today as a result of a dogma dedicated to putting profit above all else. This collection is a rousing call for Americans to work together and put people first again."
