I'm putting in a vote of confidence in Obama - I believe he's a good man and hope his political advisors are coming up with tactics vs. the conservatives that will help him show us working folks he's fighting for us. His press folks should publish more what he's doing.
I voted yes but thats based on high hopes of Obama taking our case to the people. If enough folks demand this GOP Baggers Boehner Cantor will have to listen or lose big. I have no doubt Baggers will lose seats They have over stepped & are way out of line with morals and decency. NO more corp tax Cuts- loopholes & OIL subsides Extreme avarice & Greed have taken over the GOP
I think our president is doing all he possibly can to not just get this country on track, but to eliminate even the disparities that exist even when we are on track. He is trying desparately to make this country what it has fasley claimed for decades; "One nation under god with liberty and justice for all", which has to this date been nothing but a lie. The republicans want to assure that he does not show them up with that kind of success, and the oligarcs will probably do what they usually do if it looks like he will succeed, remember Abraham Lincoln, remember John Kennedy? Get my point?
The Republicans won't let anything pass that might help our country if it means that Obama had done something good. Their racist attitude and hatred that a black man is in the White House will just not allow them to think intelligently and compassionately about what is best for the country. They just don't care. Even Reagan learned to make a deal with the Democrats from time to time, but these jerks just won't do it. There is something purely evil in their thinking and that is frightening. The Democrats don't know how to fight their dirty way. We have to learn to be tougher and to constantly throw out soundbites about just how horrible they are how their bad policies put this country in the mess it's in.
I'm a big admirer of Warren Buffett; also, locally, of Bill Gates, Sr., who tried to get his initiative passed which would have taxed him and some very wealthy friends, along with other wealthy citizens of our state (WA), a surtax. Guess what? Wealthy people like Slade Gorton, ex-Senator; Bezos of Amazon.com and a few other wealthy citizens likened this to a "power grab against the rich" and the citizens of this state actually voted it down! It was a loss of approximately $2billion and because of this we have had to get rid of teachers, and take away the health benefits and social services of the poor and disabled, just to name a few. Gates's friend said it would be nothing to be taxed approximately $3 to 4 million (based on Adjusted Gross Income). Our wealthy here pay an effective tax rate of approx. 2%. WA doesn't have a state income tax, but we do have a sales tax that is probably the most regressive of any state, and the poor suffer because of it. The very wealthy have to start paying their fair share, even here in the state of WA, plus the middle class here should vote for this tax the next time around. Even the conservative Seattle Times newspaper suggested the people brought a heavier burden on themselves by turning down Gates's initiative. But, again, do I think we will actually start taxing the very wealthy in the U.S.? The answer is a resounding yes, BECAUSE WE HAVE TO - OR SINK. YOU CANNOT MAKE JOBS BY REDUCING THE LABOR FORCE! But, that's what Republicans want anyway - for Obama to fail. Pretty soon the people will realize they have been taken in by the GOP and they will come steaming in demanding exactly that which the Republicans have been unwilling to give - to help save our country in a real time of peril. The GOP will have to sink or swim and together we will all help save our democracy from what I consider Fascist forces. I'm an old guy and I still remember we had to fight the fascists of Italy, the Nazi hordes and the Japanese, where I served, in the So. Pacific. We have a problem in America and we had better fix it - now! The Republican backed Wall Street and big banks have come close to bringing down America and our friends in the Western Industrialized World, the EU! No wonder they are derisive when we (Geithner) offered them the U.S.'s help!
ONLY A HEALTHY EDUCATION ON THE FACTS WILL ALLOW THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO SEE AND UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR THIS TAX AND BRING US BACK TO SOMEWHAT LEVEL GROUND AND THEN WE CAN TEAR THEM APART LITTLE BY LITTLE .
To Shame to be an....I couldn't agree more with what you have to say. It is scary to think that here in America it looks like we have a great champion of the middle class, like JFK and he is murdered. While we're at it let's toss in something we don't know much about; who is it exactly that assassinated JFK, Robert, his brother, and MLK? I am pretty sure of JFK, but it's a stretch on Robert and MLK. I now think I know the answer for JFK; the CIA was involved, after finally seeing the movie, JFK, by director Oliver Stone, I believe. By the way my daughter sent me some negative info on the accuracy of Stone's JFK movie and it smacks to high heaven of the same CIA denial of all facts, much like "they" do on sightings of UFOs by thousands of qualified people, like pilots, etc. It is probably "to save us from the hysteria that would result if all acurate facts were made known; like the people of the world would go crazy, loot, etc. if they actually believed there were aliens and UFOs out there." I have news for the world governments that don't have faith in their citizens, approximately 60% of the people believe in UFOs and aliens. I think the people of the U.S. should make up their own minds after they read "A Farewell to Justice: Jim Garrison, JFK's assassination and the case that should have changed history." There are other books out there also, but mostly based on the work of Garrison. So, I look for more hysterial denials about the accuracy of JFK's movie facts. But remember these facts; the citizens of Rosewell, N.M. were threatened "to be taken out into the desert and would never be found again if they 'talked' about what they had seen regarding UFOs; the Warren Commission was given 'tainted' evidence, such as a witness who said her affidavit was a complete fabrication, plus it didn't have her signature and there was no notary present but there is one now. Who did this? Garrison tried Clay Shaw, who denied ever belonging to the CIA; yet the Director of 'Black Ops' in the late 70s testified that Clay Shaw belonged to the CIA. Congress ordered the FBI to get to the bottom of these facts and report back to them; it hasn't happened yet. The complete results of the JFK assassination aren't to be released until 2029! Why? It's so everyone who was alive would never be questioned, or have a trial. Read the books by Garrison and make up your own mind as to who did it, and why did they do it.
