Someone NEEDS to get Obama's ear! " As a matter of national security, anytime gas prices go over $3/gal. average at the pump, the government should ban export of refined gas and diesel. " He shouldn't need congressional approval and if he did, are the R's going to vote for higher gas prices? I bet less than 5% of the US citizens realize we are exporting so much fuel. Even the threat should cause a lot of oil magnets and banksters :-) to get brown stains in their shorts! If I were President for a day, that would be my first declaration!

Thom, I understand you read these. I am so proud that listening to C-Span in the AM two recent callers have quoted you. (without credit) One on the "two santa theory" and just the other day, someone had a full explanation on the pipeline including the Chinese investing in 500K Hectars. The Rebublican congressman, of course, had no idea what she was talking about!

I can't figure out why he hasn't banned the export of gasoline products either, except that it's an election year and it would probably kill him off politically. But then so could $5.00 per gal gas too, so it's a dillema for him, and we pay the price of the political games.

Fines and Penalties in the Oil, Gas and Fossil industries need to be retooled to exceed the cost of noncompliance.

Wow, I don't believe that even has to be said!

From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Through compelling personal stories, Hartmann presents a dramatic and deeply disturbing picture of humans as a profoundly troubled species. Hope lies in his inspiring vision of our enormous unrealized potential and his description of the path to its realization."
David Korten, author of Agenda for a New Economy, The Great Turning, and When Corporations Rule the World
From Screwed:
"Thom Hartmann’s book explains in simple language and with concrete research the details of the Neo-con’s war against the American middle class. It proves what many have intuited and serves to remind us that without a healthy, employed, and vital middle class, America is no more than the richest Third World country on the planet."
Peter Coyote, Actor and author of Sleeping Where I Fall
From Cracking the Code:
"In Cracking the Code, Thom Hartmann, America’s most popular, informed, and articulate progressive talk show host and political analyst, tells us what makes humans vulnerable to unscrupulous propagandists and what we can do about it. It is essential reading for all Americans who are fed up with right-wing extremists manipulating our minds and politics to promote agendas contrary to our core values and interests."
David C. Korten, author of The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community and When Corporations Rule the World and board chair of YES! magazine
