Papers Please!

Wouldn't that put a notch in Arpaio's belt to arrest the President when he visits Arizona? I'm just guessing Arpaio is a birther. I just looked at Jan Brewers website and see a nomination form for the Golden Rule Citizen the first paragraph reads -- "As a Golden Rule state, I am pleased to present a program that positively recognizes those who “treat others the way you would like to be treated” and who make a difference in Arizona." I don't think she would be eligible! OOPS!

Was I (am I) disappeared?

Comcast changed me from Norton to McAfee and now I can't see any of my old posts or get beyond what may be a false HTTP security warning (both Yes and No = No).

Core Competency

I want to think a little about the concept of small government versus big government. Some people speak of wanting to keep the government small. Others insist that a small government is a weak government. Does it have to be an either/or proposition? I don't think so. I think it is possible to have a strong, small government, just as it is possible to have a large, weak government.

Arizona immigration law

Before this new law was even signed a case came up that shows what might become commonplace. I heard on the Michelangelo Signorile show about an American Citizen truck driver who was arrested at a truck stop and taken in handcuffs because he did not have his birth certificate with him. His commercial driver’s license which is vetted by the Department of Transportation as well as the state was not an adequate form of ID.

Your Papers Please!

Selfish People Suck

When will the progressives in this country start calling a spade a spade?...selfish people suck! No political party affiliation required. No financial status limitation. No religous, racial, or sexual orientation bias. Selfish patrons of our democracy are sucking the life out of our society. No other explanation exists for what is happening. Why not use the label to campaign for democratic principles.

Immigration reform next priority.

Today the president addressed the issue of illegal immigration. He briefly touched on the situation in Arizona, where legislators have passed a bill that would allow law enforcement to interrogate those people they felt were in this country illegally. To say the least, the president didn't think too highly of the bill that was just signed, hours ago by that state's governor.

Immigration reform may prove to be more of a contentious issue than health-care reform. There are no easy solutions to this problem.
