"Renaissance Thinking About the Issues of Our Day"
Whoever has the most money wins the election most of the time. One must assume this is because the richest have the most ads. Those of us on the cynical left have learned not to believe even the news, and certainly I do not believe ads I see on TV, nor do I pay attention to those annoying yard signs for candidates or radio ads and flyers. Is the average voter so susceptible to the seemingly endless political advertising that his brain is directed to vote for the guy with the most ads?
As I see our great President Obama living up to his promise to remove combat troops from Iraq, I was reminded of my quixotic notion of "personal responsibility in war."
Tropical Storm Lisa is went nuts (on 9/21 - the first day of fall)
Spawned a sea dragon while trying to create a giant 50-100 mile wide eye.
To give you a sense of scale on this Kraken image...
The White Eyes sticking out the top of the Sea Dragon - are giant vortices - substorms that are whirling around Lisa in the 'tropical storm'.
The White Spots on the right are the Cape Verde Islands. The SUBstorms are bigger than the islands OK?
I listen to Progressive on an Internet radio and today I heard Thom Hartmann make a very compelling case for living outside the USA by quoting a Forbes magazine article that listed the best cities in the world for quality of life and health care.
To those of you who "just say no" to taxes, Dr. Cleveland at DagBlog is happy to oblige--for a fee....
Their souls fled in a flickering of light
Birdwings on a sunspeckled dawn
Sunset on the dappled waters of the ocean
On today's show I got to blurt out my idea: keep Bush tax cuts only for those earning $250,000 or less.
I watched the rally.....funny faces of color were noticeably absent. I also noticed a tremendous amount of older folks. Do they know Beck would be elated to cut their social security benefits and medicare?
Hi Thom,
You probably know by now that Reverend Christie has been in federal prison since July 8th. Held without trial, denied bail twice, Roger's arraignment has been postponed until April 2011. I'm writing to ask that you follow-up your interview with Reverend Christie, by taking a look at what's going on with him now.
a number of years back i did a lot of research for a novel i never wrote, mainly about my family, jews, and our coming to the US.
one thing i learned was that in the main, the jewish scholars, rabbis, etc. did not leave to come to the US. those who came came to make a life for themselves and, sometimes, their family. the US -- the streets are paved in gold, doncha know.
this morning it suddenly occurred to me: didn't most all of the europeans come here to make their fortunes? and then immigrants from other parts of the world. it's still why they come.
