IF NO TAXES = CURE.

Republicans all yell that tax cuts for the top 2% is what will drag us out of the recession because the money they save will trickle down to the poor. This is why George W. and Reagan slashed taxes for the rich.

But after Reagan gave the rich a tax cut there was a Reagan recession. After W. did it there was the 2008 housing bubble that burst.

So if tax cuts for the rich are the cure, and that's what we've been doing for 8-30 years, why didn't they keep us from getting sick?

The Age of Stupid

The Age of Stupid refers to a movie that was made by Spanner Films, http://www.spannerfilms.net/, and released about a year ago. It's a "documentary" made in the the future, around 2050. There's one guy left on earth. He's in a sort of Ark where all of the important Earth records have been stored. Everything else but this storage site -- which kind of looks line an oil platform -- is under water.

Where oh where are the jobs promised by Republicans?

Republicans are always stating: if the President and Congress would continue the tax give-aways to the filthy

rich, business would start hiring people. You hear all the time that big business is cash rich right now. I ask then

where are jobs? It's like UFOs. Fermi's assertion that if Aliens are here then where are they? Why haven't they

It's a taxing situation

When talking to Jason, Thom finally got to the end and the agreement that taxes are controlling force that makes people invest in America. Just recently the Senate Republicans stopped the bill from coming to floor to stop giving tax breaks to companies to leave and give tax breaks to companies to come back, sending the message loud and clear that they support globalization. Taxing the wealthy, as we use to do at 90%, they make decisions about how to get around them and when they are aloud to get tax breaks by investing in the US, they do. It's as simple as that.

Billy Graham warned evangelicals AGAINST the formation of a Religious Right!

"I don't want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it."
— Rev. Billy Graham, Parade, 1981

Clock Watching On The Thom Hartmann TV Show

As a regular viewer of the Thom Hartmann show on the Free Speech TV channel of my Dish TV account, I've always wondered why Thom is required to take so many "non commercial" breaks. It seems there are times when Thom is "watching the clock" in nervous anticipation that he may miss the exact second a break is to occur.

A Simple Solution to Big Money in Politics: Ban all paid political ads

Dear Tom

The lethal effects of Citizens United can be legally nutralized by simply banning all paid political broadcasts. Billions of bucks would have little effect on elections without T.V. and Radio. Captive T.V. audiances would be freed from constant thirty-second misrepresentations which trick the pubilic rather than inform it. The UK and several European countries have done it. Check out the following link:

"...unite all things in Heaven and on earth..."

Aren't we simply seeing the successful development of the "visions" and utopian dreams of the many groups that believe in a Utopia where everyone lives in peace together......Trekkies; Christians believing the words from Ephesians; readers of Andrew Carnegie's Triumphant Democracy 2nd edition in the Epilogue wherein he stated his desire to unite England, Canada, Autralia, and our USA into an empire that could "sweep the seas" of all enemies; and Lodge & Valley men; veterans of wars disgusted by the human waste; and all of these and more working to make it happen?

The world we're leaving for today's teens...

Without immediate global action on climate change, today's teenagers will be forced to live with the consequences of our inaction. The World Bank has issued their third report of climate change, and it says that global temperatures could rise by as much as 4 degrees Celsius by the time today's teens hit their 80th birthday.
