PBS tonight and why REBUBLICORP is wanting it off the air! PBS that is !

Lester Brown is showing Plan -B tonight on PBS ( I have no connection to PBS or Lester Brown) I think that it is an important movie!

I posted a little while ago and asked if Thom has every had Lester on his show before. I hope that someone from the show looks into this, as I believe Thom and Lester would be a good team of hope and positive change.

Is America becoming George Orwell’s 1984 in 2012 or 2016?

Scott Walkers next move

Now that the Gov. Scott Walker has defied a court order and published the bill from the WRONG department. What will he do next? My guess is first he will cut salaries across the board for public workers and teachers. Then do the " Enron" senario and quietly, but quickly, sell off the public utilities. There are some dasturdly underlines here: Bottom line, Pay off the Koch bros and feather his own nest. I sure hope some watchdog groups are keeping a REALLY close eye on this skunk. Maybe he will go to jail for 'comtempt of court'. Good luck to The Badgers and vote on April 5th.

If Looks Could Kill

"They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
"If this were only cleared away,"
They said, "it would be grand!"

The Libyan Dictator, whose name is spelled so many ways that I can't decide, really does not look like the type to "step down" as our leaders are expecting. However, once again we have a "mandate" and furthermore, it is an International Mandate which amounts to an International Harvester order.

Obama's Sickening Hypocrisy

"To brush aside America's responsibility as a leader and - more profoundly - our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are."

So said Barack Obama last night in his speech to the nation regarding the attack on Libya.

Why Libya?

Kahdafi’s Libya can inflict economic hardship by its oil supply. Humanitarian reasons are secondary or ancillary to Libya’s oil.

Historical comparison between the time of Julius Caesar and today

My husband and I are listening to EVENTS THAT CHANGED HISTORY, lecture by Prof. J. Rufus Fears, Ph.D., Harvard University, University of Oklahoma. The 8th lecture in the series is about Julius Caesar. We found the parallels in this bit of history to what we face today almost chilling.

Inspection- Knee Jerk-ism Isn't Just for Liberals Anymore

Knee jerk-ism isn't just for Liberals anymore.

And it never was.

The old man started the story...

"When I was a teen and part of the New Conservative movement, no, not "Neo" as represented by Bush II, Bachmann, Beck and their ilk, but 'New' as in Buckley and Goldwater, I remember my father ranting about "'knee jerk Liberals....'"

Just trying to help

Thom - if I'm right you'll remember this as soon as I say it. Social Security was called an "entitlment program" because, unlike "welfare" you recieved benefits because you paid into it, based on the amount you paid into it. The descriptor was chosen for a political reason, to make the tax more palatable by differentiating it from welfare; to make it look like a savings rather than a tax. This is why the right has demonized the word "entitlment", to confuse the public by linking the word to budget defecits rather than to benefits.

How Can the GOP Run American Government If They Hate It?

The coal country state of West Virginia is in the middle of a special legislative session to deal with a $270 million budget shortfall, and it's setting the stage for Republicans to completely gut the state's government.

It's the same playbook we've seen the right-wing carry out in Wisconsin, in Kansas, in Michigan, and in Ohio.
