April 2011

520 tons of radioactive water are 20,000 times above the annual permissible level for the plant leaked into the Pacific Ocean in early April.

between April 1 and April 6 highly contaminated water containing around 5,000 terabecquerels of radioactive substances leaked from its No. 1 nuclear power plant in Fukushima prefecture into the sea.

the pace and volume of the contaminated flow from the plant to the sea was considerable.

we are better than this!

Why is it that when Republicans are in office "deficits don' t matter" (Dick Cheney). Yet, when Democrats are in, the Republicans kick and scream about spending and the programs that help the elderly and needy. The last three Republican administrations have successfully trashed our country by their sociopathic ideologies of greed and corruption. Their Machiavellian urge to justify their actions, by doing whatever it is they want, at the expense of whomever or whatever, to satisfy their political and personal economic gain is now in our face.

Grover Norquist: Out to destroy America as we know it.

There is evidence of Norquist attempting defund our government into bankrupcy.

American Anarchist in Charge: Isn't this unconstitutional?

Politicians (GOP) say that it's unproductive to lay blame for the country's problems, but I disagree because blame can be placed on the head if one person: Grover Norquist, a professed anarchist.

Need info/help understanding Social Security

I was talking with some fellow americans this of course includes some from the right...and this statement csme up during out conversation about social security.. I'm just learning about it and want to verify this conservative's statement.. Is what he saying correct?:

A Democratic System which Fosters Prosperity for All

I found this quite a while back, however, I do not know who the author is....but none the less I find the writing to be a painless and concise definition of democratic socialism and would like to share it.

Democratic Socialism defined:

Don't blame homeowner's for the Magnificent Mortgage Crisis.

This is part of the Wall Street favoring narrative that the Mortgage Crisis was the fault of the people and not the Financial Services Industry.
Factoring this in Americans saved just as much, if not more, than any other country. The problem occured when Wall Street's gambling on home values perverted home prices.

Raising the debt ceiling is just another ruse.

Too many Americans have too little to lose.

They've lost their homes, savings and jobs.

So I was thinking about how we have got to this point and why. In trying to find the problem in any situation, you have to find a beginning or point A. After some thought I decided that the beginning could be at the time of the first Landlords. A time when people sought protection from vikings and pirates and such. Savages. Now the very savages that we feared, we are electing to rule. A thought and question to all you smarties: What was the cost of owning a slave with providing shelter, food and medical expenses in the time of American slavery?

Can we overcome consumerism?

As I hear Thom each weekday discuss various issues of great importance to us, I’m finding that personally when I expose people to such information they almost looked ‘overwhelmed’! One of Thom’s recent callers said as much telling Thom that ‘you’re speaking far too high above the ability of most Americans to understand what you’re saying’!

So I’m thinking, why? Why are people so ‘shocked’ to learn about things that will do dramatically affect them in the future?
