Full Show 4/6/16: Bernie Wins Wisconsin by 14 Points!

Tonight’s Rumble discusses last night’s huge win for Bernie Sanders in Wisconsin, how nationwide voter suppression efforts are affecting the election, and how Bernie warned us about the Panama trade deal in 2011. Angulo, and in tonight’s Daily Take Thom details how Republicans are now bragging about their voter suppression tactics.

Horace Cooper, National Center for Public Policy Research & Sam Sacks, The District Sentinel & Charles Sauer, The Market Institute all join Thom. Has anyone besides Bernie Sanders been right on trade - and how these agreements are actually just corporate giveaways and ways for the ultra-rich to stash their money in tax havens?

Rumble - Will the GOP Keep the Rule - The Nominee Must Win 8 States?

Horace Cooper, National Center for Public Policy Research & Sam Sacks, The District Sentinel & Charles Sauer, The Market Institute all join Thom. Are the Republicans really rallying behind Cruz to get a brokered convention doing so for the good of the country? Or is this really about covering up what Trump has exposed: that the whole point of the Republican party has been to distract people with social issues while the billionaires rob, rape, and pillage America's work and middle class?

Exposing the Diploma Mills

Dr. A.J. Angulo, Diploma Mills: How For-Profit Colleges Stiffed Students, Taxpayers, and the American Dream, joins Thom. Another day, another for-profit college in trouble with the law. On Monday - Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey filed a lawsuit against ITT Educational Services - the company behind ITT Tech. The Commonwealth's case against ITT involves how it apparently mislead many of its students about the job prospects awaiting them once they graduated from its program. As Attorney General Healey said in a statement - “These students were exploited and pressured to enroll with the promise of great careers and high salaries, but were instead left unable to repay their loans and support their families.” This is just the latest in a long line of high-profile cases against the for-profit education industry. Which raises the question - is this just an issue of a few bad apples or is the for-profit college industry as a whole the problem?

The GOP Is Now Bragging About Voter Suppression

Republicans in the Old Confederacy have had free reign to suppress the vote of millions of their own citizens. That needs to stop, and Congress should get its act together right now and fix the Voting Rights Act. But we need to go farther than that. Today’s war on voting isn’t just based in the South; it’s national. That’s why it’s time to enshrine an affirmative right to vote in the Constitution, right along with the right to free speech, the right to due process, and the right to equal protection under the law. The beating heart of democracy is in grave danger; let’s keep it safe from those who would wish to destroy it. Let’s make voting a constitutional right.

Is the Democratic Party In Danger of Losing the Next Generation?

Bernie Sanders has been taking criticism because he's not "really" a Democrat - and that he's only supported by throngs of independent voters. But if Democrats want to win in November - they're going to need those voters.

Pro-Israel Conservatives Are Suppressing Free Speech

Max Blumenthal, Alternet/The 51 Day War-Ruin and Resistance in Gaza/Je ne suis pas Charlie joins Thom. Conservatives are quick to complain about how liberals are turning our college campuses into anti-Free Speech zones because of "safe spaces" and fears about "cultural appropriation." But now - it's pro-Israel conservatives who are gearing up to suppress free speech on our college campuses.

Bryan Pruitt, RedState & Alex Lawson, Social Security Works & Hughey P. Newsome, Bold/Move-On-Up all join Thom. Rumor has it that the Koch brothers are secretly trying to get Paul Ryan nominated for president at a contested convention.

Genetically Engineered “Frankenfish” Is Being Sued

Patty Lovera, Food & Water Watch, joins Thom. We head to San Francisco - where on Friday - a coalition of food safety activists and environmental groups filed a lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration - the FDA. The lawsuit concerns the FDA's recent approval of genetically-engineered salmon - or as some have dubbed it - “frankenfish. The frankenfish contains the DNA of three different species of fish - the Arctic ocean eelpout, the Pacific king salmon, and the Atlantic salmon - and it is the first genetically engineered animal OK'ed for commercial purposes anywhere in the world. Supporters say the frankenfish is a bold step forward for science and conservation. Experts - however - aren't so sure - and they have serious concerns with its approval for sale and consumption.
