How did a bunch of greedy bastards obsessed with destroying all life on the planet ever become know as "The Defense Industry"? Let's call them what they really are: "MURDER INCORPORATED"!!!!!!

  • Putting Americans Ahead of Defense Contractor Profits   10 years 15 weeks ago

I think it is great idea to stop the defense contractors. Let's put them out of business. And break their unions too! Screw all those good paying jobs and hi-tech advancements. Let the Germans or Russians or Chinese or India do the work. We can find jobs at Whatta Burger for all the employees of the Contractors. Or better yet, lets send all the workers to those other countries and let them teach them how to do the work. Why not? Then take all the money we were spending on the contractors and cut checks for all the 11 million non-citizens, slackers in Colorado, Washington and alike, Hell, all 300 million people in the USA can split the 718 Billion equally. Then we get the Feds to manage all our new wealth. What a party this will be!!!! Please send me my invitation

Quote Legend:Rush Limbaugh's home in Palm Beach will be underwater. Is there anything better?

Yes, there is, but only if Limbaugh is in his house when it goes under.

  • Iran sabotage...is the GOP committing treason?   10 years 15 weeks ago

It was not very informative to have a no-nothing apologist for the seditious senators sputtering nonsense for 11 minutes, Thom. You need to interview someone who knows what he's talking about, who can enlighten and inform your audience, someone who can give examples of when the Logan Act was applied successfully, and who can explain how the Logan Act can be applied in this situation and, most important, what ordinary citizens can do to stop the treasonous actions of this pack of mad dogs. If these 47 senators are so desperate to prevent a peace agreement with Iran, they must be desperate for the alternative - war. The American people do not want a nucear war with Iran. Nor does the rest of the world. To risk thousands or even millions of lives around the world, just to sabotage whatever this president does, is psychopathic behavior and possibly suicidal as well. I always enjoy listening to your program because I learn so much. But this segment was a waste of time.

  • Iran sabotage...is the GOP committing treason?   10 years 15 weeks ago

Yes, treason is what you get with the far right who do not recognize the bounds of civilization if it interferes with their pursuit of personal enrichment or political power. This letter is intended to interfere with the foreign policy efforts of president Obama, and timed to support Netanyahu's aggressive stance against Iran. That it kow-tows to Republican's money man Sheldon Adelson at the same time is probably co-incidental, but now he has a list of their names, just in case he wants to give them money.

After swearing allegiance to the United States that was given to them by their fathers, Republicans have decided they no longer like this country. For pay, from inside our Congress, they are turning it into some billionaire's vision of what a billionaire-friendly country should be. That decision is the treason. Neurotically attacking Obama as if they were attacking an enemy of the country, (which some of them consider the twice-elected president to be,) eliminating various protections of the citizenry, legislative gridlock, etc. are proofs of the treason.

Don't invite this guy back, btw.

They can "ban" whatever they want to. People will talk about what they want when they want and where they want. The government can keep up with public opinion or get out of the way; just like the corporate new media isn't supposed to use terms like "Illegal immigrantion" or "illegal alien", people still use the terms and will continue to do so because it is the proper and most accurate terms to use.

Despite the Orwellian doublespeak, "PC" phrases the corporate media wants to use to destigmatize or soften the images such as claiming they aren't "undocumented". They have lots of personal documentation, it's just not acceptable in the US and since they have have no US documention, they are here illegally.

Attempts by the government or corporate media to control topics like climate changes, bailouts, Benghazi, or illegal immigartion, through control of the language will fail becuase there are still a few Americans who refuse to conform and will think--and speak---for themselves.

  • Are Republican lawmakers trying to sabotage the nuclear deal with Iran?   10 years 15 weeks ago

I have to agree with Dana's comments too. The primary objective here is undercutting Obama; to make the Iranians see him and his regime as most Americans and the world do--an incompentent baffoon. However, I think they would genuinely like to see a deal woked out with Iran. They know that any attack, or precieved potential attack on Israel and the Israelis will remove Iran from the map, along with any other Moslem nation which moves against Israel. The result would be an all out regional nuclear war which would severely disrupt the flow of oil and perhaps gas which could bring the industrialized world to a near stop.

As tragic as that may be, from the standpoint of Congress---Republican and Democrat---it would make their puppet masters---the corporation which run Congress---very unhappy, and we all know they get what they want. A nuclear war would distrupt the flow of oil and global financial system, and unless they have an alternative in place, that won't be allowed to happen no matter whose back they have to stab.

I think that deals will be made that can't be kept (like "guarenteeing" Israel's security militarily) the same way there was a interlocking security agreement pre-WWI. When the bluff is called, no matter who calls it, the whole house of cards collapses, again as in WWI, except the outcome will be far worse. Meanwhile, the US has little credibility global under Obama.

Since Hilary Clinton is going to back and protect wallstreet just like obama, isn't it time for real change? We need a roosevelt not another yes man to big oil and big business. We should be backing bernie sanders for president in 2016. someone who wants real change and actually cares about the average working class american. hes our only real hope for change.

To caller Lars, who doesn't want to vote because criminal Republican officials never get prosecuted:

    Despair is not an option.

You don't solve problems by giving up or abdicating your power or being less involved.

Sen. Tom Cotton is quite disturbing. He doesn't even understand the American principle against guilt by association. A person should not be punished simply because they are related to, or know, someone that violated a law. That is Old Testament barbarism.

Kend, whether Canada benefits will depend on the change. Simple warming would be good, but expect some chaos before things settle into a new climate paradigm.

And keep in mind that global warming and climate change are not the same thing. Global warming is the slight rise in average temperature caused by too much carbon in the air. There's a reason it's not called global heating--it's not a drastic change in itself. Climate change, caused by the global warming, is the set of drastic changes, which will vary from place to place, due to redirection of the flows of heat and moisture. Some places will get warmer, some colder, some wetter, some drier.

Whose the next fool? If N.J. voters vote Christy into office again, they will surpass Florida. N.J. has a $9bn lawsuit against big oil co. for spilling oil. Christy settles for $250mn to pay off N.J. debt. So who gets stuck with the clean up bill?

Kend, climate change has the potential to extinguish all life on earth. More likely famine , then war for food will kill millions. Does someone pay you to troll liberal message boards?

  • Are Republican lawmakers trying to sabotage the nuclear deal with Iran?   10 years 15 weeks ago

I agree with Dana Dane. ^_^ For the Republican leadership to send an open letter to the Iranian leadership, stating that "they will reverse any deal made with the Obama [camp]."

How much more disrespectful can a political party be? I would think that Abe Lincoln must have been the most disrespected US President along with Obama. Makes me sad to be a citizen of America. Makes me feel uneasy to be a Black citizen of America.

  • Talking About Climate Change Banned in Florida?   10 years 15 weeks ago

Matt. I have mention almost all of those many times here. As a Canadian. Global warming, oops sorry climate change would be a good thing for Canada, Russia and China. Not so good for the Middle East. But I can't get too excited because most scientists are only talking about a one degree increase over the next 50 to 100 years. Not much will change if that's the case.

I'm on a mission to cheer up Thom and the ever-depressing and depressed Progressives. So here is a list of the bright sides of global warming:

    http://listosaur.com/science-a-technology/top-10-possible-benefits-of-global-warming/

    One highlight:

    - The land that is submerged in Florida will be more than made up for with land that is freed from ice in Northern Canada and Siberia.

    Another highlight:

People won't have to move South when they retire, to enjoy warm weather.

    My personal favorite:

Sub-tropical crops won't be limited to today's sub-tropics. Just imagine, going to your backyard in, say, St. Louis, and picking fresh oranges, bananas, pineapple, etc... every morning.
