The local, regional or federal rules and regulations requiring multinational corporations (that might avoid paying taxes and violate the public trust) could be weakened or overridden by legal treaties likek the TPP. I do not think something this important should be ignored. A public debate about another NAAFTA-like treaty is imperative, I think, because of the possible economic effect.
Each additional dollar of profit government is generating a special interest is coming at the expense of a disproportionately greater cost to the State’s non-special interests.
Corruption? Jersey? Who woulda thunk it?
Ever since I was young, and active in politics just north of New York City, Jersey has taken it on the nose, the toes... well, let's just say if Jersey were an Algonquian, his tribe would have called him, "Running Joke," OK? Some Jersey dissing is somewhat fair, some not. The beautiful parts of Jersey rarely get mentioned. There have been some great folks from Jersey, and certainly even fun, and funny, folks from Jersey, right, Jon Stewart?
(Jon gives me one of his classic moments of silence, eyes dart back and forth.)
Still the recent bridge shut down, and all its political intrigue is a... surprise?
For what it's worth....
In the words of Mark Leibovich author of “This Town”:
The US Energy Information Administration changed the charts and the way data is released, after natural gas storage levels dropped.
The EIA.gov website has taken down and changed the forecasted production/consumption charts in light of decreases in natural gas storage, prices and shortages in New England and other places. Consider that the EIA.gov website won't show the results from the "Polar Vortex" for another week. Instead the EIA tells us in paragraph form instead of providing us with its usual 5 year chart. I've included the charts the US Energy Infrormation Administration doesn't want the public to see in this blog.
