WASHINGTON -- Congressional Republicans greeted President Trump's first full budget on Tuesday with open hesitation or outright hostility.
But it was not clear that they could come up with an alternative that could win over conservatives and moderates while clearing a path for the tax cuts and policies they have promised for years.
The budget battle ahead mirrors the continuing health care fight in which concessions to Republican moderates alienate conservatives, while overtures to conservatives lose moderate votes.
Kansas Gov. Brownback's experiment in tax-cuts-for-the-rich-austerity-for-the-poor has been a demonstrable failure.* Yet, this fact gets little attention as our leaders herd us toward a tinderbox that could become the next American Revolution. Instability is not good for anyone: not for the wealthy, corporations, small businesses, the middle class, and especially not the poor.
Two years ago, the LOML (my new husband) shocked the family and his doctor (who said he had heartburn--but that's ANOTHER story)--by having 2 heart attacks in 2 weeks, as well as two stent placements. We actually have decent health insurance, and eventually found out that they covered something like $250,000 in claims for the two hospital stays (each less than a week). Day after day we got tiny "we paid your benefit" notices for things like $75. John was on disability for a year, and our life was upended. We just stopped opening the darned things. Fast forward one year.
In case you haven't noticed, everything Trump has done since taking office, or plans to do has been about OIL - for the benefit of the OIL and GAS industry, and COAL.
Now he's over in Saudi Arabia, one of the biggest oil producers in the world, and has said things to isolate, and threaten Iran, another oil producer. He and Tillerson are also making "deals" with the Saudis. Are they deals that would bolster the OIL and GAS industries?

Paying Politicians a salary comparable to the bribery money they make, May diminish their desire to Loot the US Treasury for the benefit of those who bribe.
I may have mentioned this before via Twitter, but I am sure you get proposals all the time and are too busy to follow up on every wild idea that comes across your desk. However I wold like to interest you in joining a panel of other like minded progressives in doing a Book/Speech and Live Broadcast Tour .
The Message: Reclaiming our Democracy before it is too late.
Looks like a Duck, Quacks like a Duck, Its a Duck! Remember when Trump "magnimoniously" declined a $2Billion deal offered by Hussain Sajwani shortly after the election. What kind of price tag came with the first official visit as US President and a $100Billion arms deal?
House cats eat them, their eggs and their young. Cat lovers feed feral cats and many live in the Oakland Hills at the junction of City and parkland. Even the coyotes can't get the cats. The song birds live at the fringes of forests where they have some protection from raccoons and ather predictors by bigger predators and birds predators, the larger predictors can't penetrate the thicker thorny trees where song birds nest. But catS can. Cats are a huge problem, an unnatural nature n native species, aliens.
