Kristina Amonopour knew the location of where they found bin Laden years before the found him fatally shot. To the best of my recollection, she reported his where abouts was pretty much common knowledge on the street of his host town - you could even ask a passing school child where he was and they would know.
The act of producing a piece like Zero Dark Thirty leaves me speechless concerning the ethics and morality of our Media influencing national politicians.
The whole thing is like some bizarre rewrite of history that is being crammed down the throats of the citizens of some creepy Orwellian society – except its MODERN AMERICA where its happening!!!!!
Washington, like Kristina Amonapour and half the Afghanny population, knew where bin Laden was hold up all along but chose not to do anything about it. My guess is Washington needed bin Laden "at large" in order to justify the troop deployment needed to protect ALCOA as they ushered their mining legislation through the Afgan Governmental system.
And isn't it ironic: Walker ripped Wisconsin apart and it benefited Gogebic Taconite mining, while Obama ripped Afghanistan apart and it benefited ALCOA mining.
I have not seen the movie, so I am not sure if it deserved any awards or not. How true or untrue a movie is, should not effect awards.
I loved most of the Star Trek, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings movies, and they were not factual.
I also liked The Green Berets (I was 13 when it came out) even though I was against the Viet Nam War.
From what I have heard, I think the producers of Zero Dark 30 made a mistake. They could have included scenes of torture but made it clear that torture did not help to find Bin Laden.
But if the article in The Guardian is accurate, the CIA had a lot of control in the movie.
So if the producers goal was to make a profitable movie and show the CIA in a good light, they succeded. If the goal was to be factual they failed.

Even the most die-hard Trekkies (me included) would not think that Star Trek should be judged as a factual collection of movies. Certainly any historical movie will by definition have 2 sides, as does history. However; is it not a hallmark of fascism that movies which are made out of whole cloth to glorify the EMPIRE and its Glorious Warriors are fed to an all too willing public to distract said public from the dire consequences to their own sycophantic souls as well as to the corporal well being of the victims of the fascist state?
It is hardly a new tactic, read most any book in english on An Gorta Mór. I imagine that the Egyptians had papyri glorifying the exploits of their warriors which made Seshat wish that she had never given the gift of writing to the lying heart of man.
Thom lived in in Michigan's UP (written about in "The Prophet's Way")
From Screwed:
"I think many of us recognize that for all but the wealthiest, life in America is getting increasingly hard. Screwed explores why, showing how this is no accidental process, but rather the product of conscious political choices, choices we can change with enough courage and commitment. Like all of Thom’s great work, it helps show us the way forward."
—Paul Loeb, author of Soul of a Citizen and The Impossible Will Take a Little While
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann seeks out interesting subjects from such disparate outposts of curiosity that you have to wonder whether or not he uncovered them or they selected him."
—Leonardo DiCaprio, actor, producer, and environmental activist
From Screwed:
"If we are going to live in a Democracy, we need to have a healthy middle class. Thom Hartmann shows us how the ‘cons’ have wronged this country, and tells us what needs to be done to reclaim what it is to be American."
