How are stand your ground laws materially different than vigilantism?

Yes Holder should do something but I doubt he will . Holder appears weak on upholding the law. . This law is dangerous in our gun happy violent socierty After killing a person any Shooter can say 'he ' felt ' threatened since the other person is dead and can not refute his story ! This is a Typical NRA Right wing law .

Both answers are yes, this has to come to a screeching halt before another maniac kills someone - just because he can claim self defense.

Many of the people I know that support the law are self described Christians. I ask them what they think Jesus meant when he said "turn the other cheek". I don't try to get into the nonviolent statement against Roman law that Thom has described. Too abstract for them in too many cases.
I would answer yes to both statements if allowed to do so.

Please follow us across to hartmannreport.com - this will be the only place going forward to read Thom's blog posts and articles.

From Cracking the Code:
"Thom Hartmann ought to be bronzed. His new book sets off from the same high plane as the last and offers explicit tools and how-to advice that will allow you to see, hear, and feel propaganda when it's directed at you and use the same techniques to refute it. His book would make a deaf-mute a better communicator. I want him on my reading table every day, and if you try one of his books, so will you."
Peter Coyote, actor and author of Sleeping Where I Fall
From Screwed:
"The powers that be are running roughshod over the powers that OUGHT to be. Hartmann tells us what went wrong — and what you and I can do to help set American right again."
Jim Hightower, National Radio Commentator, Writer, Public Speaker, and author of the bestselling Thieves in High Places
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann seeks out interesting subjects from such disparate outposts of curiosity that you have to wonder whether or not he uncovered them or they selected him."
