Thom Hartmann: Well, Republicans are valiantly trying to stop modifications to the Senate bill that was signed into law yesterday, the health insurance, not health care, health insurance reform. And it’s David Vitter and others putting forward these amendments, trying to slow it down and blow it up. Still operating off the play book that if they can just somehow damage the Democratic Party or make things not work the way that Obama wants them to work, that that’s going to adhere benefit to the Republican Party over time.

Thom Hartmann: And Bill McKibben is on the line with us from Copenhagen, and Bill, I’m looking at “Der Spiegel” or maybe it’s not, maybe, no actually it’s David Corn writing in Mother Jones : "No deal. Not even a fig leaf. That seemed to be the implication of President Barack Obama's ... speech". Bill McKibben, by the way, 350.org.

Phil Radford: Hi Thom, thank you.

Thom Hartmann: At this moment apparently, the AFL-CIO and SIEU are meeting to debate whether or not they should actively oppose, passively support, or actively support - that seems the least likely option - this new health care bill that has been put forward. And I’m suggesting that the bill should be killed altogether. This bill, which is going to require, now wrap your head around this for a minute, and just think about this, I was going to say as if you were Karl Rove. I realized putting yourself into the mind of a sociopath can be a very painful thing.

Thom Hartmann: Similarly, just as the President ran on health care reform, he ran on economic reform. The country was melting down. The banksters had screwed us. They didn’t just screw us, they screwed the entire planet. These gangsters running our banks, and they, you know, the doors were just kicked wide open over a thirty-year period.

Let me just lay this out, just in as simple and straightforward terms as I can and I’ll give you, you know, my twelve point solution for all things.
