And the very, very ugly! Benjamin Netanyahu. Bibi's known for his hawkish language and hyperbole about the threats facing Israel. But yesterday he decided to take on a new role - revisionist historian and Holocaust denier. In a speech to the World Zionist Congress on Tuesday Netanyahu blamed a Palestinian for and claimed that the Holocaust - "Hitler didn't want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews. And Haj Amin al-Husseini went to Hitler and said, 'If you expel them, they'll all come here." Bibi went on to explain that when Hitler asked what he should do instead - the mufti told Hitler to "burn them" This is so historically off-base that German Chancellor Angela Merkel issued a statement clarifying that Germany is responsible for the Holocaust. Bibi didn't just get history wrong though - the sole goal of this rewriting of history is to generate hatred towards Palestine. That's ugly - but the fact that at the same time he seems to be absolving Hitler of blame for the Holocaust?

NYPD Lieutenant Joanne Naughton (Ret.), Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (L.E.A.P.) join Thom. Billionaire businessman Sir Richard Branson made a post on his Virgin blog praising the UN for an alleged leaked document from the United Nations Office On Drugs and Crime. The Document seemed to outline a call for the international community to decriminalize drug use and possession for personal consumption - and further to start treating drug issues as a public health issue. And that would be great news! Except that the UN chiefs in Vienna quickly contested the document and asserted that it does not amount to official policy. Meanwhile - the UNODC itself is not refuting the paper - but it is claiming that people are misunderstanding the nature of the brief that Branson posted - and that the brief is a working document - not a final or formal document. So it doesn't seem like this will be official international policy anytime in the very near future - but it does give hope for an end to the global war on drugs - and for a new approach to how the global community approaches drug issues.
