Here are three stategies a Democratic party with balls could use to fix this problem:

    1. Start a rumor amongst the right wing fanatics (use the same email list that they use to circulate racist caricatures) that China has funded xyz PAC with $50M, Saudi Arabia $40M, Russia $10M, Cuba $5M; etc.

    2. Use the same mailing list to inform the Neanderthal fanatics that the Teamsters have contributed $10B to a left wing, liberal PAC without any requirement to disclose the source of the $$.

    3. Actually start a PAC and actively solicit anonomous contributions from foreign governments (Iran, Saudi, Russia, China, France, etc.) to influence US politics in any way the contributors specify. Make sure the public, and especially Fox News knows about the solicitation.

Then see how fast conservatives demand transparency.

Just as an aside, the $10K limit would not work in the real world. Brothers Koch would have no problem assigning an accounting flunkie to write a check for $9,999 every day and send it off to Karl (Turd Blossom) Rove. As much as we hate it, Money talks, Rhetoric walks.

    Huh?

  • American democracy - for sale to the highest anonymous bidder   13 years 3 weeks ago

Once again Turtleman and his Senate Minority have displayed their hatred of, and disrespect for Democracy in regard to the, "WILL OF THE PEOPLE." Why in hell would any average sound-minded citizen or Senator be against an attempt to inject transparency into elections?

I'm quite sure, seeing how it's their job, national headline news will well inform the electorate about how the Democratic Senate Majority was blocked by the Republican Minority in their attempt to counter Citizens United with a little transparency regarding the sell-off of Democracy....it's always good to know who the oligarchical freaks responsible for the death of the middle class are.

In my opinion, Romney doesn't want his tax returns indirectly proving the degree to which he killed and outsourced American jobs all for redundant and meaningless self enrichment! He simply and coldly destroyed many lives do to his lack of self control.

  • What will be Wall Street’s punishment for fraudulently manipulating the LIBOR?   13 years 3 weeks ago

Vote the Republicans out in November and pass laws that start putting criminals in prison for such fraud at same rate as young people with a marijuana cigarette. People in this country must wake up, stop being led by their noses, and understand the power the people of this country really have through the ballot box, but more importantly in their purchasing selections. Imagine what we could do with the Koch brothers if we quit buying their products. The same goes for every company that have exported jobs. People must accept the fact no one is going to do the job for us. We have to do it ourselves.

  • Will the Republican’s job killing strategy propel Mitt Romney to the presidency?   13 years 3 weeks ago

The amount of money being spent on the 2012 elections is down right "sinful!!" I find it most difficult to understand why the Supreme Court made it legal for corporations to spend millions of dollars toward political candidates of their choosing!!!!! Based on the actions of George Romney, the Republican House of Representatives, the filibustering by the Senate Republicans, I believe the citizens of our nation wlll be able to see just what the Republicans are doing to our nation!!! Some leading Republican leaders have stated bottom line for them is "what is best for our nation!" Native Americans who are brothers and sisters would make a comment such as these Republican folks are "speaking with a fork tongue!" Yes, they are not being truthful!! From the time President Obama became our President, Senator Mitch MCConnel has stated the sole mission of the Republican party is to see President Obama is a "one term" president!!! One needs to ask why we elect people to our National Congress? I would like to think we elect them to "serve our needs!" Passing legislation that will make a difference with the economy, with the job market should be a "priority" for legislators! Citizens of this great nation, "the time is at hand where we all need to stand up and be counted. This is suppose to be a "democracy", Let's all make a decision to " make this nation of the people, by the people and for the people!!! May God Bless America!!!!!

Do you really think the people who are donating the hundreds of thousands (Millions in some cases) of dollars are really afraid of intimidation from the Democrats? I really think the Kochk brothers and the big pacs that are donating big money, and that goes for the big donors on the left as well, realize the American voter would be pissed if they knew exactly who was donating and how much was being donated this election year. Obama is getting big bucks from Wall St. as well as Romney in this election. But it is evident that Romney and the right are afraid to release any extensive information about donors or tax returns. I am just glad I am for one not voting for either of these candidates. I will vote this year, just not for either the Dem. or Repub. party. It is time more of us thought about seriously supporting and voting for a third party or fourth! We just keep recycling the same old carbage year after year and think we really voted for a change......delusional at best. As far as the Republican Senate goes, we all knew they have toooooo much to hide to let the Dem.s pass a bill that would make it mandatory for any donations over $10,000 to be reported. As far as foreign money corrupting our elections, too late....Multi-national corporations run our elections with their big money, and in my opinion if they have Multi- before their names, they are as good as foreign in my humble opinion.........

  • Will the Republican’s job killing strategy propel Mitt Romney to the presidency?   13 years 3 weeks ago

If anything propels Romney into office it will be his money. That seems to be the driving force in this country now. I am hopeful that someday we will return to paper ballots only and a national voter ID card issued free by the Government. This would maybe solve some of this voter ID bull...... that's happening in some states to try prevent certain people from voting.

This will soon end one way or another. If democracy and fair play prevails these Republicans will lose their elections because the American people will see through their shady politics. I presume that the money will be used for negative advertising. I expect they will over produce and get a back lash from the electorate. The electorate will see all the negative ads and vote for the Democrats who would be the underdogs. If the electorate fails to grasp the meaning of the negative advertising and votes for these clowns, then democracy and fair play will be dead in America. I expect democracy to win this time around! I am an optimist.

  • American democracy - for sale to the highest anonymous bidder   13 years 3 weeks ago

I think what the republicans have seen is the liberals and their attacks on private citizens who donate to causes (free speech) that are counter to the liberal mind set is not right. The liberals have shown their capacity to intimidate and harrass their enemies. They just want the names of the donators so they can expose them on a list of people to hate.

  • Will the Republican’s job killing strategy propel Mitt Romney to the presidency?   13 years 3 weeks ago

I sincerely hope voters will see Romney for what he is -- an unabashed one percenter who has no empathy for the plight of jobless Americans. Obama has begun to turn the economy around, no thanks to the obstructionist tactics of the repugnicants whose ONLY goal is the get Obama out of the White House. I'm convinced their obstinancy is due as much to his race as to his political party.

  • American democracy - for sale to the highest anonymous bidder   13 years 4 weeks ago

Not able to drop this into a chat room - but what Romney is hiding will destroy his candidacy. He knows this, and he has been told by those whose money dwarfs his (can you say Adelson or Koch) that he is to hold tight until he makes Christie or Ryan his VP pick. When Romney drops out because of a strategic leak, one of these unvetted and even more dangerous men will replace him at the top of the ticket.

  • Ayn Randroids & Libertarians Join Forces   13 years 4 weeks ago

This was a terrible interview , a badly distorted view of Rand . Obamas life story is certainly more Randian than Romney. Ayn Rand is a minor literary figure with a cult following , much like L. Ron Hubbard, among the rich and right wing poseur intellectuals . Both parties are engaging in grave robbing for diversionary purposes here.

  • What will be Wall Street’s punishment for fraudulently manipulating the LIBOR?   13 years 4 weeks ago

1980 we had interest rates above 20%, but we had plenty of good middle class jobs that created a strong middle class tax base, and a strong upper class tax base to sustain our economy. This was all because of FDR and a very wise Congress, that in 1933 realized that although Capitalism was the greatest tool in the world it could not be, without some regulations. They knew that Greed had caused th Great Depression and without regulating capitalism it would happen again. Enter Ron Reagan and enter the beginnning of the fall of the USA, through De-Regulation and Greed. Ron told use that if he gives the wealthy/corporations a big Tax Break/Welfare they will create more jobs, and to our surprize it sure did, well over 5 million of them were created but in other countries, while the USA lost them. The first factory to close up and move off shore was the GM Termstead Plant located in Genesee County, MI. Since then the GOP has given the USA, more tax breaks/welfare to the W/C, A 1000 points of light along with the biggest service nation in the world, the bail out of the SNL's, more tax breaks, 2 11year wars, the total collapes of the world banking system along with their bail outs and the housing market in the USA. Then to assure that the USA wouldn't rebound the Koch-Teapublicans all signed a contract to just so NO to the USA, and if any of the remaining GOP would not always say NO, they would run a KTP member against them. They want total contol, just like President Putan and his Communist Party.

Once again we have more WallStreet failure, and the Koch-Teapublicans want to give us more of the same if they win in the November elections. (which they want to fix by blocking citizens from voting for the other party like Russia's President does). They are running a person that has told so many lies, that he has confused himself, how ever not the citizens of our once great country. We only see a lier that has something in his yearly tax forms that he doesn't want us to see? Mitt wants to have a wide open country where the wealthy/Corporations/he, can do what ever they want, with out any restrictions/regulations at all. They want to take our Social Security and Medicare away, along with our Health Care. It's everthing for them and to hell with the rest of us. No I didn't forget that President Clinton signed the NAFTA BILL that led to more lost jobs, but he was still the only President thhat has left office with a surplus in both S.S. and his last ballanced budget. This election is clearly like driving a car, if you put the transmission in R it will go in reverse/backwards. However if you put it in D it will go foreward, and we'll just have to hope that the KTP don't then put it in neutral/NO becuase once again the USA will go nowhere. Have a great day.

I agree in a way unfortunatly, because most politicians are owned by banksters. Also I'm sure banksters own some others in other relations to government. So until money stops influencing our politics I'm afraid we can't do much of anything I think everybody's focus should be on www.movetoamend.org !!!

Come on! Doesn't anyone wonder how this mass financial terrorism goes on without any of the Treasury Officers, DOJ, Attorney Generals, and intelligence officials knowing it?

It didn't start in 2008- now it is way beyond our heads to get a grip. We have been suffering periodic mass bank failures since 1985. We've been in wars or preparing for them since 1914.

The idea is World Depression, and taking down the United States is paramount.
