Hello Thom

I think the poll should allow for both questions to be answered affirmatively.

The question in the poll is hard to answer for me since I will be watching yet, I don't think most Americans will be watching the President.

As you say,"we are Americans, we like our football". Take into consideration that this season was jeopardized for a while and-

it's The Saints v The Packers. That's a lot of BLING. Versus NO BLING ever out of this administration.

My guess is that the President will lose about 40 million people.

Mr. Obama still thinks that if he is nice that the other side will be too, if just for the sake of looking decent. He still has not figured out that the Republicans do not know what that is.

John Boener used it to show Eric Cantor who is Boss and The People who is Boss.

BAD giveaway!

There you have it.

Hi Tom,

I think if you are a registered voter or you plan on voting in the next election and you need a job or you have a business that will be affected in anyway with President Obama's jobs plan you will be watching. In a time when so many quality of life issues are on the table I don't see how anyone would miss this iniitial first punch. The football players and owners worked their economics out and now they are getting paid, if you don't have a job you'd better see if there is any hope of you getting one in the future.

A viewer's choice depends upon whether they prefer to see good hard working people engaged in an honest struggle, or a disgustingly dishonest presentation seeking people's patience with and faith in evil corporate policies that Obama will be curve-ball pitching as being good.

Obama and all his sheeple supporters play on (D) depraved corporate owned profiting from "necessary" war, bankster bailouts, making SickCare much sicker, ignoring climate change while fracking the water and piping the tar sands team.

Disingenuous (D) voting "progressives" will be watching Obama's propaganda, for their compulsory lessons in deceitfulness.

The Packers are the only non-profit community-owned major league professional sports team in America. I'll be rooting for the Packers to beat whatever the corporate money owned team is that they're playing against.

It would be even better if the speech by the President was on Friday night of that week, or even Labor Day. That way it would not compete with everything else that people seem to find more important.

When is sanity returning to our counrty's government? It is really getting scary when everyday another example of dysfunction or corruption occurs. The drama is getting old. When are these people going to get to work to reboot and rebuild the American Dream? The gig is up and the people are ready for change. The radical right America's republican party and many Democrats have pledged their allegiance to corporations. Corporate media magnifies and amplifies the corporate agenda and hypnotizes the American public. I am very concerned that partisan politics and corporate profits are the only topics repeatedly vocalized by the talking heads. Corporate sponsored talking heads that the corporate media portray as experts. I think this needs to stop and I am relieved to hear Thom call out these people as un American and un patriotic.A corporate environment so detrimental to our democracy has gained power. I am personally dissatisfied with Obama's performance. but I am gravely concerned how the President has been or is being disrespected by Congress, Senate, and Judiciary branches. Fox is an echo chamber of hatred and thrives on any negative information about the President with the likes of Hannity, Oreily and entire info entertainment team focused on down pressing any positve or anti corporate agenda. I am hoping Obama suprises everyone after he has an epiphany before his speech. He confesses his sins of corporatism and he is one again with the American people. His first demonstration of turning a new leaf could be to veto the Keystone XL Pipeline. Right during his speech, annouce I President Obama am vetoing the pipeline for environmental and safety concerns! Let's see what happens.

He should announce that he and his Secret Service delegation will march on the Congress Wednesday as agreed and speak to America, C-Span would be there. Think the networks would pass up the feed on such a bold move? I doubt it.

Absent that I'll fast forward my DVR through the commercials and catch up with my son on the game. humm maybe he'll do me a proud and be doing the same. OTWT

FDR 10-31-1936,

"For nearly four years you have had an Administration which instead of twirling its thumbs has rolled up its sleeves. We will keep our sleeves rolled up.
We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace—business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.
Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me—and I welcome their hatred.
I should like to have it said of my first Administration that in it the forces of selfishness and of lust for power met their match. I should like to have it said of my second Administration that in it these forces met their master."

Obama is like an abused wife...., but I remain forever optimistic that he will find the course of a strong leader, acknowledging the GOP hatred and making the bold proposals, fighting for them

Obama's job plan? Really. I assume this is not to be confused with his last shovel ready jobs program. You remember, the one that cost 775 billion dollars. The one where even though Obama held a supermajority in both houses and close to a trillion dollars he still was unable to produce anything even resembling a jobs program. We had zero job growth in august, something that has not been seen since 1945. He was told to lower the deficit, instead he increased it thus causing America to lose it's credit rating. He bans off shore drilling in the gulf, (even though he has been court ordered to lift the moratorium) while he gives billions to Brazil to develop their off shore drilling program. This cost tens of thousands their jobs. He has closed 8% of the coal manufacturers (even though 48% of this nations energy comes from coal), again costing tens of thousands their jobs and energy prices to increase. He just cost 500,000 automakers (non union of course) their jobs. I could give you 20 more examples, but why bother.

The reality is, it is difficult to create jobs while you are destroying the nation. This idiot poisons the water hole (remember his, "we won, time for you to move to the back of the bus comments), shoves his unpopular ideology down the throats of the American people, kills jobs with his Obamanomics, doubles the national deficit, and borrows 775 billion (putting unborn children in debt in debt) in stimulus money that has zero effect on the nation. All this while travels the world living his Jet set life style (leaving the biggest carbon footprint any prior president has left) while he touts "green jobs". His idiot wife has spent 10 million dollars of tax payer money on vacations while American families are their losing jobs and homes. Yet he expects everyone to reschedule their events to listen to him read more lies from the teleprompter. This countries outlook will NEVER improve while this fool is in office.

"Thom Hartmann is a creative thinker and committed small-d democrat. He has dealt with a wide range of topics throughout his life, and this book provides an excellent cross section. The Thom Hartmann Reader will make people both angry and motivated to act."
Dean Baker, economist and author of Plunder and Blunder, False Profits, and Taking Economics Seriously
From Unequal Protection, 2nd Edition:
"Beneath the success and rise of American enterprise is an untold history that is antithetical to every value Americans hold dear. This is a seminal work, a godsend really, a clear message to every citizen about the need to reform our country, laws, and companies."
Paul Hawken, coauthor of Natural Capitalism and author of The Ecology of Commerce
From Screwed:
"I think many of us recognize that for all but the wealthiest, life in America is getting increasingly hard. Screwed explores why, showing how this is no accidental process, but rather the product of conscious political choices, choices we can change with enough courage and commitment. Like all of Thom’s great work, it helps show us the way forward."
