I think that the GOP's goal is to destroy this country. They want to eliminate anything that helps the people of this country. Clean Air, Water and Land, Edible safe food, affordable healthcare, jobs that pay a living wage, affordable banking, non-corrupt politicians, etc.
I voted yes because it included a tax increase on their rich buddies. If it were being paid for with cuts to social programs they'd pass it in a NY minute.
The only answer to these problems is to get the GOP out of control of the House and we have to do that in the 2012 elections. In order to have a fair election next year we have to put a stop to the GOP strategy of rigging the elections by passing state legislations to suppress voters rights.
I have just learned that the Tea Party is asking businesses to stop hiring people. Apparently, they have broadened their opposition from illegal immigrants and now are focused on the unemployed and those nearing the end of their unemployment benefits as their new victims. These poor misguided people are inch by inch shooting themselvs in the feet, for when they have achieved the goals of their funders, the Koch brothers, they will be cast aside just as they are trying to do to those whom they oppose. It is interesting that one Tea Party leader in New Jersey, I believe, has sided with the "Occupy" movement, with whom he has expressed a kindred relationship . It is nice to know that some members of the TP group can see beyond their noses.
"Thom is a national treasure. Read him, embrace him, learn from him, and follow him as we all work for social change."
—Robert Greenwald, political activist and founder and president of Brave New Films
From Screwed:
"I think many of us recognize that for all but the wealthiest, life in America is getting increasingly hard. Screwed explores why, showing how this is no accidental process, but rather the product of conscious political choices, choices we can change with enough courage and commitment. Like all of Thom’s great work, it helps show us the way forward."
—Paul Loeb, author of Soul of a Citizen and The Impossible Will Take a Little While
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann channels the best of the American Founders with voice and pen. His deep attachment to a democratic civil society is just the medicine America needs."
—Tom Hayden, author of The Long Sixties and director, Peace and Justice Resource Center.
The Republicans' ONLY goal is to see the failure of Barack Obama.
They are shooting for 100% rejection of his policies, I fear they will accomplish their goal.
