Rumble - Can We Trust the Police?

Angela Morabito, Red Alert Politics & Danielle Blevins, Freelance Reporter & Matt Keelen, The Keelen Group all join Thom. Police in North Carolina say that Keith Lamont Scott was carrying a gun when they shot and killed him. But why - after everything we've seen in the past few years - should we believe a word they're saying?

Rumble - NRA, “Electing Hillary Clinton President Could Kill You"

Angela Morabito, Red Alert Politics & Danielle Blevins, Freelance Reporter & Matt Keelen, The Keelen Group all join Thom. The NRA really - really - really doesn't want Hillary Clinton to be president. It made that as clear as can be this week by releasing a new $5 million a that will air in 5 swing states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, and Nevada. The message of the ad is basically "electing Hillary Clinton president could kill you."

What Kind Of White Person Do You Want To Be?

Chauncey DeVega, Salon/The Chauncey DeVega Show joins Thom. White Americans are needed to stop the forces behind the police violence we saw this week in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Charlotte, North Carolina. The reason? Tune in….

How To Take On the Banksters

Elizabeth Warren took Wells Fargo CEO to task yesterday - even calling for him to be criminally investigated! But if we really want to rein in CEO greed - we need to change the way they get paid.

Politics Panel - Why Banksters Have To Prosecuted...

Rob Mariani, The Daily Caller & Alex Lawson, Social Security Works & George Landrith, Frontiers of Freedom all join Thom. U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren called for accountability from Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf - and a criminal investigation into the banks cross-selling scandal. Will anything change on Wall Street if CEOs never face prosecution for overseeing fraud?

Politics Panel - The Slave Patrols Hit Again….

Rob Mariani, The Daily Caller & Alex Lawson, Social Security Works & George Landrith, Frontiers of Freedom all join Thom. Another unarmed man shot by police. So - how can we reinvent policing in America to draw a bright line between modern police departments and historic slave patrols? How can we fundamentally change policing in America so that incidents like this are not commonplace?

Secret meeting between Joe Scarborough and Trump?

Jeff Cohen, Ithaca College/Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting(F.A.I.R.)/Roots Action/Cable News Confidential: My Misadventures in Corporate Media, joins Thom. According to CNN - "Last week, Scarborough and his "Morning Joe" co-host, Mika Brzezinski, visited the Republican presidential nominee at Trump Tower to rekindle a once-rosy relationship that has turned bitter and adversarial." In other words - Joe Scarborough now thinks Trump can win and wants to be on his nice side when he takes over. You really couldn't ask for a better example of everything wrong with how corporate media has covered this election.

Important! Open Source Voting Explained

Mimi Kennedy, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA)/Mom on CBS joins Thom. When Americans head to the polls this November - 1 in every 4 of of them will do so in an area that uses electronic voting machines - which is a big - big problem. Although they were originally supposed to be the new frontier of democracy - electronic voting machines have now fallen out of favor with most election integrity experts. And for a very good reason, too.

Climate Denial is the Result of the Powell Memo…

Republican climate denial isn't just a corruption of politics - it's a perversion of politics.

Prison: The Freedom Fighters

Maya Schenwar, Truthout/Locked Down, Locked Out: Why Prison Doesn't Work and How We Can Do Better joins Thom. 24,000 prisoners in 29 prisons in 12 states have been on strike for almost two weeks. Is A Healthcare Public Option Coming? Progressive Roundtable

Sarah Badawi, Progressive Change Campaign Committee(PCCC) & Ashley Spillane, Vote.org all join Thom. U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley announced in an email on Friday that 33 Democratic senators now back a public option being added to Obamacare. Democrats have started more loudly calling for a public option as major private insurers have pulled out of ObamaCare marketplaces and left parts of the country with only one provider to choose from. But not all Democrats have jumped on board - Senator Heidi Heitkamp for instance is holding out support - and she said in July that "I think it's critically important that we stop trying to complicate healthcare and we start taking a look at what needs to be fixed in Obamacare.” Will this help the Democrats in down-ballot elections by giving progressives and first time voters something to vote for?

Hillary Has A Millennial Problem - Progressive Roundtable

Sarah Badawi, Progressive Change Campaign Committee(PCCC) & Ashley Spillane, Vote.org all join Thom. Hillary Clinton has a millennial problem. According to one recent poll - Clinton would have the support of just 31 percent of Americans ages 18-29 in a four-way matchup between herself, Donald Trump, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein. In such a scenario - Trump, Johnson, and Stein would each have the support of 26, 29, and 15 percent of millennials, respectively. This is a huge deal. Young Americans played a big role in electing and reelecting President Obama - and without their support - Clinton could very well lose to Donald Trump. Her campaign knows this - which is why today she gave a speech at Temple University in Philadelphia that was aimed explicitly at millennial voters with a lot of talk about things like debt-free education.

Are We Giving Isis What It Wants?

Sue Udry, Bill of Rights Defense Committee/Defending Dissent Foundation & Ilhan Cagri, Ph.D, Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) all join Thom. It matters how we respond to events like Saturday's bombing. Apocalyptic rhetoric just falls right into ISIS' trap - and fuels the hatred that makes another attack more likely - if not inevitable. It's been 15 years since 9/11 - and - just like Osama Bin Laden said he was hoping George W. Bush would over-react to 9/11 - and he did - similarly now some alarmists, mostly on the hard-right, seem to be doing the bidding of ISIS just to gain domestic political advantage. So, where do we go from here?
