Siccing Dogs On Native Americans?

Tara Houska, Honor the Earth/Indian Country Media Network/Huffington Post/The Guardian joins Thom. Picture the scene... peaceful protesters are practicing their constitutionally guaranteed right to organize and protest when they're set upon by thugs with pepper spray and dogs who snarl at them and bite them. No - this didn't happen 50 years ago in Birmingham - Alabama. It happened over the weekend near Cannon Ball, North Dakota - where thousands of activists remain camped out in one of the largest Native American political actions in decades. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe and its allies from other indigenous nations are protesting the construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. Once finished - the pipeline will bring oil almost 1200 miles from the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota all the way to Illinois. The brutal scenes we saw this weekend occurred when some protesters tried to protect their sacred burial grounds and were instead attacked by oil company mercenaries. And those protestors aren't just up against the oil companies - they're also up against the courts. On Tuesday - a federal district court halted construction on some parts of the Dakota Access pipeline project - but not the areas that the Standing Rock Sioux hold sacred. The fight goes on.

Rumble: It’s Time to Break Up Media Monopolies

Bryan Pruitt, RedState & Danielle Blevins, Freelance Reporter & Charles Sauer, The Market Institute all join Thom. CNNs Dana Bash admitted on Tuesday that Trump has been held to a lower standard than Hillary Cllnton. But since when does being a first-time politician mean that there are lower expectations for a person who is running to become President of the United States? Anyone who is running to become America's Commander-in-Chief needs to be thoroughly vetted by the media and held to the highest standards - not treated with kiddie gloves. But the mainstream corporate media doesn't care about legitimately vetting candidates - they only care about stirring drama to drive viewership and advertising - and they can get away with it, because the Telecommunications Act of 1996 created a wave of media mergers that have left us with a few virtual media monopolies. So isn't it time to start enforcing the Sherman Anti-trust Act to break up the media monopolies that control our online and print newspapers along with our TV and radio stations?

Rumble: Why Is the Confederate Flag In the Zika Bill?

Bryan Pruitt, RedState & Danielle Blevins, Freelance Reporter & Charles Sauer, The Market Institute all join Thom. Another bill to fund the fight against Zika failed in the Senate yesterday - after Republicans attached riders to fly confederate flags in VA cemeteries. So what will it take for Republicans to stop playing games with this public health crisis?

Wow! Algonquin Pipeline Going Under Indian Point Nuke Facility

Dr. Courtney Williams PhD, Safe Energy Rights Group/Resist SPECTRA joins Thom. The Indian Point nuclear power plant - the so-called Chernobyl on the Hudson - has a history of accidents and near misses. So why is the government allowing a gas pipeline to come within miles of its reactors?

Full Show 9/7/16: Why is Obama Still Pushing the TPP?!?

Tonight’s Rumble discusses how the media continues to be soft on Trump, Trump throwing Florida AG Pam Bondi a big party (not expecting anything in return of course), and a new study linking an increase in child asthma attacks to ozone smog resulting from oil and gas pollution. Thom discusses the latest on the North Dakota pipeline that’s destroying Native American land with Honor the Earth’s Tara Houska and in tonight’s Daily Take Thom details how the TPP will not improve our security.

Full Show 9/6/16: Fox Settles with Carlson for $20 Million

Tonight’s Politics Panel discusses the fine Trump had to pay for an illegal donation to Florida’s attorney general, the $20 million settlement between Fox News and Gretchen Carlson, and the disgusting behavior by private guards against the pipeline protestors in North Dakota. Thom discusses Trump’s leading of Clinton in the latest CNN national poll with social science professor and author Daniel Levitin and the importance of pollinators with actor and activist Dominic Monaghan.

Pollinators: Lord of the Rings Actor Dominic Monaghan Weighs In...

Dominic Monaghan, Actor/Environmentalist & Urban Bee Keeper/Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan. For tonight's Green Report - We go to Northern California - where butterflies have been mysteriously disappearing for decades. According to new research published in Biology Letters - there's even more proof that the butterflies aren't just disappearing because of land-use and the climate changing - they're disappearing because humans are killing them with neonicotinoid pesticide use. The research team - lead by Professor Matthew Forister from the University of Nevada - looked at 40 years of data to separate the different factors that correlate with the declining butterfly population. The authors found that the butterfly population in Northern California made it a biodiversity hotspot - but that populations have been in decline since the late 1990s without any correlation to recent temperature or land-use changes. But the decline lines up neatly with the increase use of neocotinoids - which were first used in 1995 in Northern California. Here now to discuss the importance of butterflies and other pollinators in our ecosystem - is Dominic Monaghan - Actor - Environmentalist - Bug Aficionado and Urban Beekeeper.

A Field Guide to Lies

In the latest CNN/ORC national poll - Donald Trump has taken a 2% point lead over Hillary Clinton - with 45% of likely voters saying they'll vote for Trump as opposed to only 43% who plan to vote for Hillary Clinton. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson still only has 7% support among likely voters - while Jill Stein is trailing with only 2%. According to that poll - a majority of voters trust Trump to better handle the economy and terrorism - while a greater proportion of voters trust Clinton on foreign policy. But by far where Trump holds the biggest lead is in terms of trustworthiness - with 50% of respondents saying he is the more honest and trustworthy with only 35% choosing Clinton. But why is that? What goes into how trustworthiness is perceived? And in a world where we're bombarded with more and more information every day - how can we sort out what is true - and what are lies? Let's ask Dr. Daniel Levitin - Neuroscientist - Dean of Social Sciences for The Minerva Schools at KGI - Professor at McGill University - and best-selling author - his latest is "A Field Guide to Lies: Critical Thinking in the Information Age"

Panel: Fox’s Madmen, Sexist & Male Dominated Cult….

Hughey Newsome, BOLD.global/Move-On-Up & Jasmine Jefferson, Social Security Works & Alex Pfeiffer, The Daily Caller joins Thom. Vanity Fair reported that Fox so-called News will pay Gretchen Carlson $20 million - and they issued an unprecedented apology that reads in part "We sincerely regret and apologize for the fact that Gretchen was not treated with the respect and dignity that she and all of our colleagues deserve." This wasn't just about Ailes - this is about the sexist Mad Men-era culture that dominated Fox and other male-dominated corporations. Are we seeing a fundamental transformation at Fox and a rejection of the Mad Men cult as Baby Boomers are dying off? Or is this apology and payoff just supposed to sanitize Fox's image?

Panel: Why Is the MSM Normalizing White Supremacists?

Hughey Newsome, BOLD.global/Move-On-Up & Jasmine Jefferson, Social Security Works & Alex Pfeiffer, The Daily Caller joins Thom. Hasn't the mainstream media coverage of the Trump campaign help to normalize bald-faced white supremacy in America?

Trump's “Good Cop, Bad Cop” Routine

Dr. Mark Weisbrot, Center for Economic and Policy Research (C.E.P.R.)/Just Foreign Policy/FAILED: What the "Experts" Got Wrong about the Global Economy joins Thom. Between Trump's visit to Mexico and his strong-man speech in Arizona - he seems to be putting on some sort of one-man "good cop, bad cop” routine.

No Guns for Medical Pot Users - Will Pharmaceutical Be Next?

Sam Sacks, The District Sentinel joins Thom. The District Sentinel recently published a story called "Medicinal Marijuana Users Don’t Have Second Amendment Rights, Appeals Court Rules" Tell us about the ruling that medical marijuana patients can have their second amendment rights infringed? Does this precedent potentially apply to people on prescription pharmaceutical medicines too?
