It's funny that Thom accidentally said "Texas" instead of "Kansas". It's just like Pres. Obama's joke at the beginning of his recent speech.
If this kind of abuse of state power continues to increase it will make Orwell's 1984 scenario look tame. At lease Winston and Julia could go out to the country and meet securely. When we have automated spying and when that spying also dominates the skys, then there will be absolutely no place that is safe.
We must stop the ability of the government to use military tactics inside the borders of the US. We must also lessen our military activity elsewhere.
"Million and oneth"? I think that's "million and first".
Heck the drone is up here where I live for about 5 years now. When Emily Keys was murdered at our High School, the government gave good old Boy a drone and from what I hear some other toys that no one speaks about. I had a friend that worked right next door to the cop shop and she watched them take it in after going out and playing with it for the day. They were trying to be real secret about it and they had no idea she was watching. They got a lot of toys to help spy with, which now makes them feel like they are superior over all the citizens. There is a lot of corruption in this county and it's done right in front of us. Our local paper tries to be somewhat unbias but you can read between the lines.
I'd sure like to hear Thom's thoughts on Bain Capital (Mitt's company) converting the San Francisco radio station Green960 to an all fascist station and kicking Thom - and all other Liberals - out of that market --

Polls show that a majority of Americans say that both the Republicans and Democrats are doing such a poor job representing the people that a new, third party is needed.
I’ve repeatedly warned that there is a scripted, psuedo-war between Dems and Repubs, liberals and conservatives which is in reality a false divide-and-conquer dog-and-pony show created by the powers that be to keep the American people divided and distracted. See this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this,this and this.
In fact, the Founding Fathers warned us about the threat from a two party system.
John Adams said:
There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.
George Washington agreed, saying in his farewell presidential speech:
The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. And, there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume.

Oath Keepers, an association of active servicemen devoted to upholding their oath of guarding the republic and protecting individual liberty, has reported that federal agents recently paid a visit to a Latter Day Saints food storage cannery in Tennessee (http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2011/12...). Though they had no reason to be there, these agents allegedly interrogated the facility's manager and demanded to see a list of customers that had purchased, and were storing, food there.
Clay Jenkinson of the Thomas Jefferson Hour had a great iTunes PodCast Sunday. Clay said that the OWS movement needs to occupy Washington. Washington needs to be shut down. It's our government that is corrupt & broken!

Leaving out the part that he has recieved a lot of money from Big Oil and other Far Right Extreme nut jobs who could care less about average Americans. Forcing citizens to pay for bankster fraud with austerity measures is made easy with removal of that pesky thing called DEMOCRACY, and it appears the banksters are succeeding at just that. Substituting unelected banksters for representative Govt. in a country like Greece is not going to have a pretty ending. Their citizens realize illegal activity by Goldman Sachs is at the root of their debt crisis as well as our own sub-prime crisis. We're all in this together...the global 99%!

Nobody can "prove" why or how economies go south, including Thom Hartmann who blames any republican he can find for all the ills of the world. He conveniently forgets the democrats voted on and passed most of the legislation he comdems. His argument that the democrats have had a minority in congress for the last 30 years is pure BS. Thom spends a few minutes each day bloviating on how Europe has everything in sync. What a great place to live. All the "rights" of humankind can be found in Europe. Free healthcare, free college, at least five weeks full paid vacation, equality for homeowners that cannot pay their mortgage, high minimun wages, forgvieness of student loans, union pay for all, and a myriad of other "free" benefits. Common sense tells anyone with a IQ over 4 that this cannot go on without a default. You could take ALL the wealth of ALL the billionaires and this still could not go on very long. Guess what. It is stopping in Thoms favorite example called Europe. The entitlement encrusted people of Europe are unhappy and protesting. Tough. This mess has little to do with banks and a lot to do with corrupt politicians currying voters favor. Thank god our politicians in the U.S. don't try to buy votes. Are European politics corrupt? Probably no worse than our jackasses in Washington D.C. This is a mess that was created by a bunch of whiney self serving fools in Washington that need to be replaced fast. Jon Corzine is looking for a job.
Looks like it's close to 50/50, but I'm the eternal optimist and the people will wake up over the coming year and not vote against their own interests. I am constantly educating people, or trying to. I hear people say they are die hard Republicans and always have been and I try to point out that these are no longer Republicans. At least not any that I remember. They are going totally against anything that Republicans were for in the past. I urge people to educate themselves, if they don't have the time I do, I will send them pertinent information if they so choose to receive and read it. I can well understand busy people with families to raise, jobs to go to and so forth who just do not have the time to do all the research. But I suggest, if they can get FSTV or any of the local radio stations that Thom is on, to at least watch one tv show a week. Record it or whatever. Even Current TV with Keith Olbermann is a great progressive show, but at least one little thing other then watching far right news such as Fox News, which I no longer watch. Or even not just local news, which does nothing to educate people on what's happening beyond a few basics. 60 Minutes even has good info now and then.
